Both. Have had my house phone number too long to ditch it, and there are people/companies/telemarketers that I don't want having my cell phone number.

Got rid of the land line a couple years ago. Just didn't make much sense to us to have both. Kinda like paying double for the same thing.

I can see ditching the land line in a few years but with 2 young kids in the house I feel better having a land line that is always there...

We struggled with this decision for two years. I finally talked my wife into letting go of the phone cord. It has been okay. Certainly some people have had to adjust to calling us, but the main people we wanted to call us have our cell numbers. We have been without a land line phone for two months now. I think we are doing alright. Sometimes miss that other phone, but being 50 years old and always having a house phone is second nature. We will be fine in a year without it. I sure don't miss that payment. We just switched to a different plan and are now saving about $25 per month on total phone bill outlays.

We have to have, and pay for a separate phone line to get our DSL. Its how this company works. Its ok though, my dad is old school, he refuses to call our cell phones.

We've been thinking about getting rid of the landline too since everytime u turn around ATT raises the bill but we have dsl too, confused on the options out there, would rather NOT have telemarketers calling & wasting my minutes on my cellphones so we keep the landline...anyone tried Magicjack???

Got rid of the landline 10 years ago no one in the house answeared the landline because we all had cell phones. Now you can port your landline number to be your cell number and no one will even no you dont have a landline anymore. Tried Magicjack did not care for it discontinued after first year.

Still have both. The thing that concerns me about dumping the land line is when the power goes out, so does power to the tower. At least when the power goes down, the land line still works.-Mezz

Not sure how it works up there, but I have never lost phone service on my cell when power went out. Internet on phone still works too. I havent had a landline in 8-9 years. No telemarketers ever call me either. Tether internet off cell phones.

Not sure about that either? I would dump land line in newyorknanosecond if I could get cell signal at the house.

I've had my copper house phone forever, added DSL to it in 2005, and my cell for 3 years. Pretty much keep the house phone for DSL now. It can be changed to DSL only, but for the few extra bucks I cant part with not seeing a phone hangin on the wall(s) just yet.

Have cells been updated to pin point 911 calls yet ? That's something else to consider esp in remote areas.

Just cell phones for us for about the last 5 years. Once the boy was old enough to manage a cell phone, the land line went bye bye. Now, if only Charter wouldn't hose us for internet service..........We have smart phones, but it's so much easier to do internet stuff on the laptop....

can't dump the land line. No cell coverage at my place. Down the block, yes.

Also get my internet through the local telephone company and cannot get cable internet. can't get internet without having a land line in my area.

Would rather dump the cell. Then there would be peace and quiet when I leave the house. Don't really need to talk to someone that bad that it can't wait till I get home. But need the cell for work.
