I am looking to replace the bulbs in my truck (94 Dodge truck) and I want some really good bulbs. I just replace the headlight lens assembly's and it helped but still not strong enough for me. I adjusted them real good and am very conscious of oncoming vehicles.

What are your experiences with headlight bulbs, pros and cons. I do a lot of highway driving at night and so many deer up here and have had many close calls so I typically have slowed way down,,, like 50 mph at night because the deer are all over. I need something better than oem bulbs but do not want to blind people,, help me out people!

Our new car came with Xenon headlights standard. Very impressive. I guess they last longer than halogens too. We like them.

ddmtuning.com I have HID lights through them. 5000k slim ballast kits. Gives you the nice white light. I would not go back to conventional bulbs after having these. You will not blind people if adjusted properly. I do not get flashed.

Go with the HID lights. Doesnt matter what brand, they all come from the same supplier. I got HIDs in my rzr from Burke on Ebay. Was around $65 for the slim ballast hi/lo, plug and play.

I applaud you for being conscious of blinding oncoming drivers, but you are probably the only one left. Down here you have to drive with sunglasses on at night. Just aim them a little lower than you normally would and you will be fine. They will light up your life.

LEDs are awesome to, but big $$$.

HID's are great but when put in a halogen housing they scatter light. You may be able to see a little better but most of the benefit is lst and it will certainly blind other drivers.
I have had mixed results with Silverstar bulbs, they help some, but not great.
Given where you live and drive I would look at a set of aux lights from a company like Rigid. You would need to treat them as high beams, turn them off when oncoming traffic is present, but these will really light up the road. Take a look at the D2 lights, not cheap but the light output will best even HID and be focused correctly.

HID's! will not go back to a standard bulb ever. I have 8000k low beams and they are pretty blue but I've never gotten flashed before. Just need to adjust them properly. I get mine for $35 off amazon brand name is xentec me or my friends have never had a problem but make sure to get the standard metal ballasts as i've found the slim ones are junk.

So you bought a complete kit but used the same lens and reflector housing and are very satisfied? How much better than stock,,if you had to rate them on a 1-5 scale?

even though I have a nearly 20 yr old truck, I don't want to have wires and switch mounted, would rather tie into OEM harness and use actual head lamp switch (I'm weird) or upgrade Halo bulbs.

Those who have used halogen upgraded bulbs,,,did you experience a worth while result? Sorry for so many q's, just want to get it right the first time.

I would yes as I said earlier...also I would use that Mothers headlight restorer that helps to.Gets the haze out of the headlights.

The silverstar helped for me, biggest complaint from me is short life. Driver's side blew in under two years.

Go with the HID Crystal White 5000k. Here is the site that I just bought some to replace the ones in the VW. (One burned out)

http://www.intensehid.com/

I got the Crystal Blue 6000k and they work awesome!

I would just call them to make sure you get the right setup for your truck.

Well I have aftermarket headlights that are smoked but they aren't projections made for hids. But I am very satisfied and can see the whole road. If your not going for a "look" i'd go for a 4-6000k range bulb as 8000k is pretty blue.
