I have a couple helmets that are starting to scratched up right in my line of sight.
Is there anything that I can use to buff them out?

..... I typically replace mine every couple of seasons.
Being able to see while snowmobiling = priceless.
Which is all fine and dandy but if the helmet is out of production and no replacement shields are available AND it happens to be your favorite helmet what other options do you have? (He asked rhetorically.......)

How old are the helmets? After "X" amount of years, you should replace the helmet, some manufacturers recommend every 5-7 years as a rule of thumb.
I gots a really big melon.....8 3/8 hat size
That's because they are in the business of selling helmets. If a helmet has not taken a firm impact it will still protect WAY longer than that.
The helmet in question is an HJC FG-8. No longer in production and replacements shields all sold out even on the net. It's a XXXL which hardly anybody makes any more (I gots a really big melon.....8 3/8 hat size). Most of the current offerings bite me (some severely) right at the crown of the forehead. This is the helmet I use for brush riding and such.....
