Helmets

Totally personal preference. Find one that fits well and go with it. You can spend $500 on a helmet if you want. Personally I have a 509 and LOVE IT. Its an AFX 17 which is an <$100 helmet.

Also important, being able to find parts, shields, etc, for your helmet in the areas you ride. Many years ago, my wife had to ride the second half of a trip with her shield duct taped shut because we couldnt find a dealer that carried parts for one of her old helmets. She looked hard core snocross. :D

I like the brp modular 2. I wear glasses and it has a breath box that blows your breath outside the helmet via tubes. Wouldn't go with anything else at this time except for maybe an open face and goggles.

If you're set on full face then I'd go with HJC or BRP. Personally though of have an HJC CL-MAX collecting dust since I got my 509 helmet and goggles. This year I picked up their Aviator goggles and they are even more amazing.

Don't discount trying an open face/goggle/breath box set up.

I have used an HJC helmet for sledding for quite a few years, reasonable price and the newer ones have a nice inner lining.

Only issue I've noticed is their dual-lense shields seem to scratch fairly easy.

With open face/mx style helmets, make sure to keep your skin from being exposed while riding.

I will also mention, best to be able to try any helmet on to insure a good, comfortable fit.
