Help in Minocqua area

Wondering if the lake is going to be marked by this weekend in Minocqua. Taking the kids up and staying at The Waters on the south side. Only way out by sled I believe is across the lake. I realize snow is going to be sparse but the kids don’t care. If this doesn’t work we will just leave the sleds on the trailer and head up towards Mercer but hoping not to have to do that. Also concerned about my 850 overheating if snow is really thin and we r riding slow. Any input would be appreciated.

We have yearly reservations for this weekend at the Pointe and they were doubtful/concerned that the lake would be marked. We went ahead and cancelled our reservations and booked a house up on St Germaine.

I’ve ridden from Beacons without going on the Lake. I went out the front drive and turned right. Went thru right to the Bearskin. It might go thru a condo association, so Im not sure if it’s a road or a private drive, but there’s always a bunch of sleds around, so I didn’t feel like I was trespassing. I’ve also seen guys cut straight across the swamp and up onto the Bearskin. You could probably ride back to the bowling alley. I think there’s a trail across 51 at The Waters. Not sure you could get out of the Point. We ride thru there to the Shell but you can’t go any further south.

Called The Pointe yesterday too in which they stated a meeting was scheduled on Wednesday with the township and CCC to review the current ice depth and possibility of opening the lake trail. That situation is a big bummer for the town and local businesses for sure.

Wasn't The Pointe part of the problem initially with bubblers? Is it just under the bridge that is not safe?

Yep, lake was marked today and pretty busy. They dont have any signs displaying what businesses are where yet but the barrels and markers are up.

The pointe wasn’t keeping it open they couldn’t figure out why with the town that it wasn’t closing up. Weird never been this way before there but on my lake in st germain in the bay was not freezing when it never has been like that before right at shore weird

Drove by Friday and yesterday. The barrels are out and it looks like they pushed the flags further out than usual from The Pointe to keep folks off of where the open water was. Hope this works out for the local businesses and the riders will also stay clear of this area and follow the barrels.
