Help with disassembly of rear Polaris Fusion suspension

I took most of the rear suspension apart today. One last thing that I am stuck on - how to get the spline out that holds on the torsion springs. Any advise? I took the bolts off. Do you need to hit a chisel into it to get it loose?

Thanks.

Brass Punch would work best, make sure to mark 2 spines that line up so you put it back in the correct spot.

If you are talking about the shaft inside the torque arm, that should come out easily, if it was lubed up enough. You could fill the shaft with grease through the zert (sp?) and lube it up. Should come right out.

I think what Indy said makes sense, I just didn't have a brass punch or chisel handy. I tried a big flat screwdriver, but it wasn't enough of a wedge if that makes sense. I'll get the right tool and try again tomorrow...

Brass don't marr up anything, so you're not as afraid of hitting stuff with it. I had a heck of a time trying to find brass punches, chisels, etc. My dad ordered me a brass hammer, and a 3 pc. brass punch set along with an extra long brass punch with a smaller end to it for me for christmas last year from northern tool. When reinstalling don't be afraid to put a tad bit of anti-seize on the splines. Make sure the brass bushings in the couplers are in good shape, they like to oval out. I believe they can be bought at your local hardware store (maybe an ace or true value?) for $2 versus paying $20 or whatever the heck the poo dealer wants these days... Poo Blue oil went up from $28 to $36. Chaincase oil went from $12 to $15. I can get Klotz cheaper than that! Last week,I got new plug caps for $3.20 a piece from Fleet farm, Poo dealer wanted $21 a piece! If you start getting black dust on your plugs when you pull your plug caps off, the resistors inside the plug caps most likely went out and the whole cap need to be replaced. Pure rubber caps work best and last the longest. Some have noticed a bogginess, I didn't notice any difference but I don't have black dust anymore. I know we need to support our dealers these days, but if I bought everything from them, I wouldn't be able to afford to snowmobile. Had to pay $22 for a washer last year since it was a "polygonal" washer that was Poo-specific. Sorry about the rant, just hoping somebody out there got the message...

Ok, so I got everything apart (actually the powder coater did) and now it's time to put it together, now that everything was coated. I didn't listen to Indy and mark the splines ahead of time to see how they sit on the rear torque arm (which tooth). Any way to figure out how how they fit on other than trial and error?
