OK all you I Pod experts...

I am trying to install an app on my I Pod Touch (Sirius Radio Skydoc App). I have downloaded from the store onto my computer and synchronized the I Pod with the computer, but the app does not show up in my menu.

What am I doing wrong?

didja try moving screen to the left for another page? little dots at bottom should show how many pages you have

If that does not work do you have wireless internet at your house? If you do then you can directly download the app to your itouch. Just go to the settings and select the wireless connection. Also check to make sure that app will work on an itouch. Some apps are for the iphone only.

My main screen is not even filled up with apps, so there is no ability (or need to) scroll.

I do not have wifi at the house, but can find some places up here that I can tap into, if I have to go that way.

Kind of frustrating to have it sitting on the computer and not transfer over to the I Pod. Apple certainly is not bug free, that's for sure!

John,

Re-check that app. It might only be for iphones. For some reason that one sounds familiar. When I looked at it for my itouch I thought it was only for iphones. I will check it tonight when I get home.

When you have your itouch hooked up to your computer and it shows up in itunes click on "Johns itouch" or whatever you named it when you logged it onto your computer. Then with the tabs in the middle of the screen look for the one that says 'applications', click on that and find all of the apps that you want and click on them so that the check mark is next to the app name. When you have done this then in the bottom right on the screen click on the 'sync' button. This should solve your problem, I have the same Itouch.

Thanks for the suggestions. Seems the problem is when I click on my I Pod under the devices on the left hand side of the window, I do not get an "Applications" tab on the right. All I have is: Summary, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Photos and Info.

I am running ITunes version 8.2.1.6

I went home last night and was able to download that app directly using my itouch. If it is any consolation, that seems to be a cool app. Now I am thinking about getting that sky dock. The only thing else I could think of is if the version you are running is not the most current version but it should say once you plug it in that there is a newer version available for your itouch. That happened to me that I had to download a newer version before I could download some apps. Off hand I do not know if that is the most current version that you have.

I must say that working with itunes from the computer is not the most user friendly thing. I rarely do it and when I do, my daugher is there to bail me out when I have no clue. That is why I use our wireless router in the house. Then I can download everything directly to my itouch. That way it is so easy I can even do it. Heck, I even text from my itouch because if I use my phone it takes a half hour to type three words. I also directly download the usa today newspaper. Then I can take it with me a read it later even if there is no wireless where I am at. The Itouches are cool devices. Plus I can check into the John Dee site and read all the posts.

John, talked with my daughter and she says to go to devices and check for updates, she thinks you have to get an update in order to see the apps, she has another idea if no updates are there so let me know

You may have to update your touch and itunes, it is up to 9.something now. I have the sirius ap on my phone and I didn't have any problems and I did it right from my phone.

Yep, it was an update issue. First did the itunes and no go, but then did the touch and that did the trick.

Thanks!

By the way, the app and the Skydock are both pretty darn cool. Anyone with an Ipod or Iphone looking for Sirius in the car, I would recommend it.

Just don't be listening to any of the comedy channels while drinking a pop. My nose still burns!

do you need to be subscribed to Sirius/XM to get it? I bought a lifetime subscription to it and it rocks, especially on road trips where there are not many stations. Can't wait until I get rid of my car so I can listen everyday.

How does that attach to your car? I know it mentioned something about using an adaptor that fits into a cassette. ( I don't have a cassette player). Or some other plug but I can't find a spot on my stereo in the car to plug into. I do have a newer car it is a 2008.

in case your interested there is a free way to get songs and videos without using itunes or apple crap programs....you use MEDIA PLAYER and the SYNC TAB....along with this to turn it into MP3's....in MEDIA PLAYER you go to tools and options and rip tab and under format you can arrow down to MP3's as well because you should slide the slider to HIGH QUALITY 194kps and save raw song of video in WMV or WMA first as its higher quality than any other format besides WINDOWS AUDIO LOSSLESS...then make you grainy MP3's.....you can download anything off youtube for free and legal....look for HD ones and set the video converter to 194KPs as well or 30 frames per second and bitrate and all that jazz....i dont buy an IPOD as apple is proprietary while windows works with all formats....more freedoms....i use a FUZE from radio shack.....cheaper and more versatility

converter
http://www.filehippo.com/download_any_video_converter/

heres you first song to try....it will come as a video in AVI or WMV but set converter to WMA and it will extract only the song....put into MY MUSIC FOLDER....WALLA.....burn anything....even movies and trun into MPEG or whatever...you guys funny paying for this stuff...make whole album of this

Yes, you do have to subscribe to Sirius to get the signal. The dock and Ipod work together to create a Sirius receiver. I am not sure about transferring a lifetime subscription from one device to another, so you would have to speak to Sirius about that.

The dock does plug into your cigarette lighter, but that is only for power and also a way to mount the dock and Ipod to your car.

There are several ways to get the signal to your radio. You can plug it directly into an auxiliary input (best quality). You can use the dock's FM transmitter to send the signal to your car's radio. You can use a cassette adapter (not included) if you car has a cassette player or there is an optional accessory that allows you to plug directly into the car radio's antenna.

Crutchfield has a pretty good webpage for the system, you can see it here.

Yup, you can transfer up to to 4 times to any device. I figured if I keep my cars for 5 yrs, I would get 20 yrs of radio for the price I paid. I think it came down to $1/mth.
