High pitched whine more like a squeel

1996 Polaris 500 Fan when I started it up it hade a High pitched whine more like a squeel that was relative to engine speed. It even had it when moving for a couple hundred feet then went away. Any ideas.

belt deflection adjust or buy new belt.

I dont think it was the belt because i moved the belt around a little when it was running and noise never changed.

Don't know how you can move a clutch belt while running without losing fingers but if you say so....Then it is speedo cable don't worry will break soon there is a key in there as I remember that gets sheered off & squeels. Disconnect cable at engine take pieces parts out squeel will be gone but no speedo.

dont the 550 fan of that era use a belt to drive fan?

It was running and I raised the belt guard and was moving the belt and could not feel or here any change to the noise. I am not sure about there being a belt for the fan.
