Hitting a snow groomer?

Had a friend of mine several years back almost hit a groomer having lunch at Slims. The trails were crap for 5 days straight and there was plenty of snow to be grooming. Lots of words were exchanged. If you are a long time Keweenaw rider you know what and whom I'm talking about.

Last year I was going down Moose Mountain and the groomer was coming up Moose Mountain in Michigamme (Trail 8). The trail was icy and I did not have studs. I locked the track up and went sideways into the groomer's path and I came within inches of the groomer's front blade. I checked my pants after that one. Oh man that was scary. I installed studs on my sled this year for that very reason. When I want traction, I want it on demand!

Warning beacon sovles this and if groomer does not have 1 at least the lead can warn the rest. Our group has been all using the collet communicators for years.
