I ended up going too. Was a fun day. I don't know much about racing or follow it at all but it was an exciting race at the end. And we had a great time hanging out during the rain delay with some friends we ran into.

Amazing. Very nice pics. Still can't believe they finished Sunday. What a great race. I envy you!
Yeah it's crazy how the weather changes so quick. it's happened a few times but I'll tell you I was really convinced after looking all the reports that it wasn't going to be till Monday at the earliest...

'97 I was a junior in high school and I had tickets for about 4 years at this point... It was myself and two other guys and one of the guys girlfriends. We drove down in my '89 Cougar on Sunday morning. We had to leave our house around 4:00 a.m. to get down to Indy and sit in the parking lot in the rain all day Sunday... Drove back decided I take my mom's 94 Buick LeSabre the next day it had a bit more room... I think we got back around 9:00 and we're back on the road at 4:00 a.m. on Monday. Got back late that night around 9:00 or 10:00 again and only watched a few laps... Turned around and went back for the the race finally on Tuesday... We wanted to stay, we were just going to sleep in the car... Anything just so we didn't have to make that drive back... Of course my one friend's father said no way his daughter was staying with three guys... I think we had to talk him into letting her just go with us...

Bikes as far as you can see. 8-9000 bikes for the Ride in Remembrance in DC. Use to be over 50000 bikes but DC and communities put the damper on that because of logistics. Next year it is limited to 5000. They had a streets and interstates blocked off Sunday morning to get to the Pentagon parking lot. 1000's of police motorcycles and and escort vehicles. We had approximately 3500 come from our staged area in DC. 8 lane streets were blocked off to 4 lanes for us. Started engines at noon----no wonder the original name was Rolling Thunder, wow what a sound. Ran thru DC and around the Mall before dispersing. Quite a spectacle. People along the way, before and during the parade, welcoming us with flags flying and thanks. Only draw back is that it was 100 degrees before we started. At least they had fire trucks there with nozzles going to get relief. Was an absolute honor to run this in remembrance of all Vets. Mostly American Legion Riders but also other organizations as well. Saw one from Peru and some from Germany. Awesome week with some difficult and challenging riding. Went with 29 others from Wisconsin and had some break downs and one rider down. He's ok but bike totaled. Was released from hospital emergency after 5 hours and now riding train back to Wisconsin.
