How Are Doo 850s & New Gen 4 Platform?

If it's as long lasting as Doo says it is going to be (ignoring any 1st year production issues), there's not much advantage for a 4 stroke. Of course that's a big if.

Always be room in the market for both 4s & 2s and 850s have a long way to go ...many miles.... many years to prove to be as robust as 4s engines. I would luv to see it happen but highly doubful. We shall see/..... 2s have limits using turbos or go boom 4s do not. Composite chassis comes along and a lot of weight is gone...just saying tech moves quickly and OEMs need to have eggs in all the engine baskets. Look what the 4s Ace did in the low hp market ...who knew?... used to be all 2s air? lol

Thats why I cant believe that polaris is staying out of the 4 stroke market. With all the have going in the atv and sxs market and yet they leave the other 3 to capture all the 4 stroke sled buyers??

The 2 stroke engine will always have a HUGE weight advantage over a stroke engine. No matter what brand, or who ever builds it. The valve train is were you are stuck with the weight on the 4 stroke engine. Cams, rollers, chains, valves, and so forth. All hard, weighty parts. Ski-Doo continues to further invest in the high tech 2 stroke engines. Not too many years ago, they were saying the 2 stroke engine was history. Not yet!!!

Pol has their own problems with their 4 wheelers burning up. Many recalls and their stock has taken a beating. Still no solutions for the burning up issues. 4 wheelers are where their money comes from. Doubt if much new will happen with their sleds until they get their current problems solved. l

Polaris betting on 2s with sleds prolly could join with a 4s but do not choose to at this time. I'm not sure how this will play out for them with nothing to combat the doo ACE and no wonder Doo is #1.

Doo must have sold a lot of 850's. I was really surprised how many of those I saw on the trail yesterday.

Only a couple had to let me, on my 90hp Ace, by.

Rumors are 10,000 and I believe it as I seen a summit with serial # 1700

So much for a "limited" build

While I'm sure it was the new chassis catching my attention and making it seem like every 4th sled I saw was an 850, I did see a lot of them.

I seen at least 20 in my week up north last week, anyone who hasn't ridden one, do it. Well unless you don't want to trade in your current ride

I thought I read where the current 600 won't fit in the new chassis, so it shouldn't be long I'd guess.

Not sure but I also thought 600 about same size as 600, was hoping for late build 6 just to get bugs out before next year. I just can't justify price difference for the 850.

Market demand dictates price!!! They all want the "big" ones. How ever I agree with you.

If they come with it will be an all new 600.....based on etec tech like the 850.

The old 600 and 800 weren't built from ground up to use etec tech, they were carb motors with etec tech on them.

With Ski Doo doing better in the sno x racing does that maybe mean they have put a new 600 etec in the sled?

Like I said the 850 updates to the 800 engine on the 600 engine would be a great trail sled and would be plenty for 99% of us. It would be like putting a turbo on the 900 ace.

Well we have had Midwest areas with good snow so 850s with Gen 4 has had some run time. Likes, dislikes positives negatives...What do think?

FYI;

BRP has zero financing for 6 months through Sheffield on anything with a good credit score (no change in rebates either). The catch; if you do not pay the loan off in full prior to the 6 months it converts to 9.9% for the entire loan period.
Fine for guys that buy new sleds each year.
The Dealer did not even know about this deal. If interested, call Sheffield, get approved and get a "loan document number" in 30 minutes and take it to the Dealer and be in and out like a burger.

My 850 Renegade ADR is officially broke in, today's gas mileage was 17.5 mpg and oil usage is down along with it. I have 740 miles with no issue.
I adjusted my chain case yesterday, this is how easy it is; turn a small Allen head screw that is easy to get to and turn the screw 1.5 turns; that is it no cotter pins etc, took three minutes.

The sled is something else, like a dream.

Cotter pins?...
Bolt and jam nut on every sled I owned....none Doos, though
