What a great thread!!
I met Jim in February of 1993. He was this guy at the bar who loved to dance. He asked me to dance and I was like NO WAY!! It was a nightly event… he would ask me to dance, I would say no. He would buy me a drink; I would say THANKS, but NO DANCE! In April of 1993 there was a drawing at the bar for dance lessons - I won!! I got 8 weeks FREE dance lessons from the Cowboy Corral Dance Studio - YEEHAW! I show up for my first lesson… Jim's the instructor. GO FIGURE! He rigged it so I would win the drawing and HAVE to dance with him.
In July of 1993 I was the last one to find out we were officially dating. In April of 1994 Jim proposed to me at Goodman's in the Burnsville Center! Right there in front of EVERYONE! This was shortly after he picked up my ring from Goodman's! For the next several hours, I was speechless. Yep, me speechless… another GO FIGURE moment. Later that evening while sitting at the bar I looked at my hand and literally screamed out "We're engaged!" Our friends laughed, "yep… again you're the last one to know!"
July 15, 1995 was the day we got married, a Saturday at 1:00 PM, at the Apple Valley court house with the best Justice of the Peace EVER! He was so cool! Our parents, siblings and their kids were in attendance. Later that day we had a BIG ARSE BBQ PARTY at Curt and Becky's house… the best damn party EVER! We invited 175 people and sent out 350 thank you cards! Once word got out at the bars where we danced that we were having a party at Curt and Becky's EVERYONE came! We received every piece of camping equipment we needed for our big camping trip honeymoon. We also rolled out of our party with nearly $5,000 in cash!!
Our honeymoon was at Country Jam in Eau Clair Wisconsin with ALL OF OUR FRIENDS and about 50,000 other people.
We have our two boys (11 and 13) and are going to celebrate 15 years in July. What an amazing ride it's been!!!
REV IT UPx3!
