Lori Painting.jpg Hey all,
I don't post alot on here, but I have been going to the UP for 14 or so years now and have met some really great people!
My longest snowmobile buddy was diagnosed with a rare type of Melanoma cancer while we were just getting our trip started this year! We have been going to the Wildlife Refuge Cabins together for about 7 years and he got "the call" after we had arrived for the trip 15 minutes this Feb. I will always remember that conversation following the call! Myself being a survivor of nearly 20 years, I thought he has this licked! Right? Mike has had nothing but shatty news every appointment since and has just found out his lungs look like a bomb went off in them (non-smoker).
Michael is the best dang guy you'd ever meet period. There is a benefit for he and his family this Saturday 5-19-12 in Robbinsdale, MN. with a silent auction, band, DJ, meal, etc. If you have nothing else going on, I'd love to shake a fellow JD'ers hand! There will be a few of there to support Micahel.

Point of my post is in my emailing with Lori from the cabins, basically our "UP Sister" (too young to be my UP mom :) ), I had told her in passing about the benefit. In response, she decided to send down a "LORI ORIGINAL" 14 X 18 oil painting as well as a two night stay gift card for the cabins!!! Folks, Lori and Dave are truly AMAZING people who need to be recognized for their generousity and passion for their friends/guests.

THANK YOU LORI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to give a big thank you to a couple of really amazing people!!

Treat every goodbye as if it were your last, the last goodbye may have already past!!

Thanks Again Lori and Dave! The crew will bidding the heck out of the donations, trust me!!

Give those loved ones a hug tonight!

Brad

Thank you Brad for your kind words and continued support by coming to the U.P. We were sooo happy that Mike still managed to have a good time and made the best of his trip, he manned up and ate a Snicker's, good for him, and if I recall no stucks either! I like that, sister, though I am old enough to be some of your guys mom.Wish we could be there this weekend, better yet wish you could have been here for the mud run. Give Mike a hug, and we will see you guys on your regular scheduled trip! ooxx to alland hope you all raise lots of $$$$'s

Brad,
When you were out to my house yesterday to give me a quote, we got to talking about the UP, WLRC, snowmobiling and the fact that we know people that are having benefits. Well as it turns out "the people" are the same guy. My wife works with Mike Laney (not the Mike that has cancer) and we have donated a couple of silent auction items ourselves. Too funny and as it turns out what a small world we live in. We are not sure we are going to make the benefit do to other commitments but this gives us an excuse to make changes to those plans as well. Maybe we will see you there.

All went well at Mikes' Benefit!

Lori, your donations were a hit and you will never guess who will heading to South Range later this Summer...:0 My girls are wondering maybe an art class while we're there???

My bro Rudydoo outbid a few of us on the painting, he is the PROUD owner of a Lori Original.

Pitt, your donation was a hit on the raffle with the grille. It was kind of a neat thing they did last night. Sold raffle tickets for each large item, 4 in all.

Brad

All in all, a great evening. Good food, Great people and an even better cause.
