Regarding a post a few days ago.
I see what was meant by Police all over the place.
We went to Minocqua this past weekend.
Coming home yesterday, there were 6 different State Partol cars set-up.
Starting where the 2 lane changes to 4 near Tomahawk down to Wausau.
Then another 3 down to Stevens Point.
3 of them had cars/trucks pulled over.
What a ambush area!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch for double fines also

WAUSAU - With the first day of March, comes the beginning of construction season.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says work on the final stages of the Highway 51 and Highway 29 reconstruction in Wausau is scheduled to start again tomorrow.

This year, crews will be connecting eastbound Highway 29 with northbound Highway 51.

The first round of construction will affect Highway 51, between Sherman Street and Highway 52.

The DOT also says the Highway 52 on-ramp to southbound Highway 51 will be closed from early April to mid-June.

Periodic lane closures on US 51 will also be required.

From April to October, crews will be completing work in other locations between Highway 29 east and Bridge Street.

This will cause some off-peak lane or shoulder closures.

It will also close Sherman Street between 22nd Ave. and 17th Ave. from April to September.

Motorists should be alert for slow moving vehicles, heavy construction equipment and turning trucks within the work zone.

Yup, you got it. They love this area, not that they don't love speeders everywhere, but this is quite the hot spot.

Drove I-90 from LaCrosse to Tomah then 21 to I-39 to Stevens Point last night, and didn't see a one.

Couldn't get over the number of police cars we saw on our last trip. They definitely want to make sure they get there share of the money being spent by the tourists.

Right... or they may just be trying to slow traffic down to the speed limit? I'm just sayin.

They got my $200.50 in December, the officer started out the conversation by saying the State of Wisconsin is cracking down on out of state speeders, he didn't pull over the cars with Wisconsin tags in front of me, just me.

I got one a few years ago in the Wausau "speed trap",and got it reduced (points-wise) with a phone call to the D.A. before the court date.In the end it's about revenue anyway........

I went up north on Thursday afternoon and came back on Sunday state police everywere, they like to hide on the overpasses and take radar, most seen between Portage and Stevens Point. There was also a area either before or after Wausua were they had yellow 55 mph signs posted due to rough pavement not construction, speed trap is what you call that.

I drive that every w/e to the UP. Personally I am glad they are there. It is scary to see people blow by you on slippery roads pulling a trailer at 75 to 85 mph. seems like most of those are IL plates too. Maybe the life the cops save will be mine.

They mush have different rules then, county mounties vs. State Boys in Blue. Interesting.

I was going to ask, just for a point of reference, if you got a ticket, how many over the limit were you?

I've been fortunate running below 10 over so far, just curious what you have to be running for them to get you, not what they CAN get you for, but what they actually do get you for.

Huh, do they give you this option or just do it? Last time I was an outstater and got pulled over, was 7-8 years ago, and he asked me if I had cash or a credit card, gave me no option to mail it in. Maybe things have changed.
