Wouldn't it be nice to have the same enthusiasm for people to join our club here in east central WI when they sled through our system of trails. Everybody needs to support clubs where they ride.

Support them regardless, at the present time I don't use the trail much, in fact hardly at all in 30+ years of riding. Been a back country rider since before there were back country sleds. I do use the trail for the trip home, but nonetheless, not much. I just picked up my membership last week at the Convention & Visitors Bureau. It's a good cause.-Mezz

Fully agree. I only ride Mass City and north so I joined the Superior Club last year and now belong to both. In the past I caught some grief about not joining one that was "local", but I believe you join where you ride and you get involved with that club too. Do the clean-ups, try to attend some of the events, it's great to send your check in, but really get involved and know the members and what things are going on in the area.

I personally agree, but for me it's impossible to join clubs everywhere I ride. Right now I am a member of Superior Snowmobile club, and Sault Ste. Marie snowmobile club in Mi. I was able to get the weekend to do trsil work gor Superior this year. I also belong to Poniatowski Dare Devils in Wi. As well as the Stillwater Snowmobile club here in Minnesota.
When I ride the western UP, I ride pretty much the entire western third of the peninsula. From wakefield to Copper Harbor, to Michagamme, to Land 'O Lakes. How many clubs trails would that be. In the Eastern UP, I ride out of the Soo south to Cedarville, west from there North to Newberry, Paradise, west of there to Munising. I am only up there once or twice a year but hammer out 700+ miles if on trail riding.
In Wi. I ride Iron River, all the way across to Iron Belt, Hurley, Chippewa county, Barron County, maybe not all in one ride, but all in one season.
I Ride all over the state of Minnesota, regularly in at least 6or 7 countys, and usually a couple trips north to the arrowhead. Or at least Brainerd, Lake Mille Lacs area.
So it would be impossible to join clubs everywhere I ride, every ride I go on most likely hits trails in at least 3 different clubs. Usually even more than that, i have a hard enough time keeping track of counties and trail maps, let alone clubs that maintain the trails.
I highly appreciate the work club volunteers put into trail work each and every year. I wish I had more time in the fall to do more trail work than I do. But my work is such that I don't ever even know what I'm working tomorrow till I'm done today. Let alone next week or the weekend after to try to make plans and sign on to be on a trail crew.
I make all these points as I'm sure I'm not the only one who has these types of issues, riding too many clubs to join all, work schedules that make it very hard or nearly impossible to do trail work. I also feel I pay enough in trail pass fees that I

I'm not "numb like WD is all the time but it's just a cost of riding. You think grooming those trails is done for FREE? Most (not anybody on JD) think they are just put in by the various state DNR's. That is just TFF.

I was thinking about ways to support all the clubs in all the counties I ride.
Here's a thought, not sure if it'd go over or not.
If there were donation boxes in each club area I would be inclined to give a buck or two for each club area I ride in. Now that doesn't sound like much, but if every rider did it, it may make a big difference in club suport. Not sure on security of donation boxes on trail, so maybe at a location on trail. Gas station, bar, restaurants. With signs on trails, st intersections indicating donation spots where donation boxes located. If it was widespread I think people's would get used to it and be willing to help fund, even having paid trail pass.

Maybe with them all having the same consistent headline banner.
IF YOU LIKE OUR TRAILS PLEASE DONATE FOR US TO KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Any thoughts on this idea? Good, Bad, Not Feasible?
