This past weekend I picked up a 1984 Yamaha Phazer for my 10 year old and plan on giving it to him on Christmas. Its got 1800 miles on it and seems like the perfect sled for him to learn on. Its at a buddies house waiting for Xmas and I am already chompin' at the bit to start tinkering. Its going to be a fun father son project that will probably involve installing a 121" track, a pipe, and probably a move to Vmax carbs eventually. I am open to any tips/tricks regarding the Phazer so lets here them!

probably got a 485 fanner, that's a great reliable sleds and perfect for him. My son is 10 and rides our Venture with 485 fanner, perfect power for him. Probably has old metal skis? Throw some used Simmons skis and that sled will handle like a dream

1984 Phazer was a mover and a shaker in it's time! Throw an Aaen pipe on it and watch it go! Be careful though, the 84 was the first year and it had a light crank on it, made it go fast but you had to be careful too! What a lucky kid, I can only imagine how excited he will be!

Just back from checking out a 1980 340 for my boy. Guy didn't have it running. Offered him $400 (asking $700). He didn't take it. Told him to spend a day to get it running and he could get $1000 easy. A bit disappointed, was getting excited to go vintage!!!!
What does something like that go for? I grew up on a bravo and my oldest is 6 now. Wouldn't mind picking one up

I paid $450 for the Phazer I picked up. 1800 miles, the left front body panel was cracked and the seat has a few small tears. Nothing we cannot fix and at that price, I couldn't pass it up.

I really lucked out, this sled is in great shape, not even a dent in the belly pan and I got it for $400. It needs a seat cover and after the fact I found a 1" tear in the track (shouldn't be a big issue) but still a great deal. The guy I bought it from wanted it gone and wasn't too worried about the actual dollar amount. I would say under $600 is a good price for one in fair shape. Just remember the tracks are not available anymore. I plan on getting this track repaired by Carroll tech over the summer.

how awesome......I had one of those in my day....I still remember my Dad and Mom got 2 new sleds every couple of years....I started getting my Moms hand me downs (still awesome sleds) when they would upgrade. For my 18th birthday my Dad bought me a brand new one.......a 1992 Phazer with electric start.....I did put an Aaen pipe on it but that sled was light and nimble...that's where I started doing the off trail fun stuff.......Boy nothing but good memories with that sled....your son is going to have one awesome Xmas.......you both will remember that for the rest of your lives.

I just bought a 2006 Arctic cat sabercat 500 efi lx with electric start and reverse with 500 miles, for my 11 year old, was a lot more than I wanted to spend, but I thought it was a great deal for $3200 and it came with dollies and a cover, he was out on it today with a grin from ear to ear, I guess xmas came early for him.

Can't go wrong with a old school Yamaha my 7 year old and nephews will be fighting over our 84' ss440 this winter. Sounds like a awesome Xmas scott

We got our daughter a polaris 120 for her 5th Christmas,... after she opened her
presents,...we told her Santa brought her ONE more! but it was in the garage!
So,... she ran to the mud room door,... looked out the window at the shiny red
snowmobile poised perfectly on display with a huge red ribbon on it,.... turned to
us and said,.."Oh,..neat!",... then went back to the living room to play with her other
toys!. I stood there looking out the window and felt like apologizing to snowmobile!!
Oh well.
She eventually had lots of memories on it!

totally sweet, that was my first sled when I was a kid. I gotta ask where is the ten foot tall wind shield that comes with it?
Gave it to him early! Ha love it. My oldest is 10 has a zr 440 and my 9 year old has a little jag 340 I bought for $200 and it runs great. We got 3" of snow here today in Indiana and thats the 1st thing they asked to do when they got off the bus. Good times and alot to look forward to this year.
