Lots of above freezing temps in my forecast along with the precip of different forms this weekend. I am afraid the end is near for my local trails. 1000 miles from the garage so far with a big ride thursday should be over 2000 miles for the season in total. I will call that a success. I forgot how awesome the scenery is on our local trails. And how tight and twisty they are. Hoping there is one more U.P. trip before busy season starts. Might be close to a 3000 mile season for the first time in 6 years or more. Hope everyone is enjoying the snow. Its been an old fashioned winter here that was all packed into 30 days! Kip you wanna trade in a 3000 mile XC 850?? LOL. Get out and enjoy it everyone!!

Yeah, pretty sure we'll be done here in southern WI too after this wknd. Upper 30's and some sun along with a lot of rain in the forecast. We have a base of ice that's about 4" thick with about 2" of snow on it, and most of that is ice chips, so it doesn't pay to try to groom anymore. It was indeed a 30 day season, with our trails open for a big part of it for a change. OK, about 3 weeks, but that's triple of what it's been lately around our parts. I got about 100 hrs of grooming in this season so far compared to just 20 or so in the past 2 yrs. combined. I'm ready to get the Spyder out!!! So go ahead and warm them pipes up fat girl...sing it!!!!

Hurry everyone, load the trailers and head back to the UP and beat the poop out of the trails..bad trail threads to begin soon.

But seriously, Green Bay will be toast soon too. Harvest has over 5,000 and I am at 2,600 so I WILL be cracking 3,000 this year (first time over 2,000 in 18 years of marriage).

No fat ladies out in public here. They are all inside watching Oprah. 14 below this morning. Headed for late melt. Frost is 4 feet deep. It will all run off. Be sure to tune in your TVs in mid to late April to see the Mighty Red River of the North reach epic levels. It will be 7 miles wide west of my house. The Mississipi is going to be nasty too.

I had 17 below this morning also. Supposed to be nice this weekend though. I read a report from Wolf Ridge ELC, which is about a mile from my cabin, and they said they'd received 137" of snow this year but the frost is only about 17" deep up there. We got snow early in Dec and it kept it well insulated.

Everyone will have to start traveling back up there - heard its been VERY quiet for the most part.

If we get what they are predicting (I know, eyes rolling 3 days out), we have a couple more weeks at least to ride out of the garage.

Eagle River, WI Days Inn had two other sleds in the parking lot Tuesday night.

It was very quiet last weekend. A fair amount of sleds (maybe 30) at the Trestle saturday afternoon but we didn't see a lot on the trails (not that we ride a lot of them.) I'd love to be going up this weekend but am getting shot down but we'll be up the following weekend for St Urhos weekend. We'll be riding into April again for sure.

Heck no, the fat lady is singing. Well at least for the next couple of days. Boy, I welcome it. It was a damn rough winter for me. Twice I had to get my roof shoveled. I'm too old to do the roof shoveling myself anymore, but I did roof shoveling since I was a kid.

Right now the temperature is 51 out there and it is suppose to get above freezing next week too.

Only 3 degrees cooler right now in Calumet than where I live. Crazy. Sled trips in the northwoods past the first week of March are like playing Russian roulette with your money and time off.

yep, 3 degrees warmer in South Range than it is down here. Tomahawk is only 4 degrees cooler. Warm, wet air sucks!

She's at full opera right now. It's been raining here for over 2 hours, the yard has water running through it, and the 60 amp Katolight generator is hooked up to the tractor and going at full tilt, because the power is out. We get winter for one month, and now it's gone again. I could pray the UP holds up through this, but that's just not my luck.
