Ice augers

Do all engine powered Ice augers only auger in one direction? I need a power unit that I can auger in both directions. What I want to do, is put dock post in and out with the aid of a power unit.

An auger will not put posts in and out for you. If you want a gas post hole digger there should be a hardware store or home depot that will rent you one. You need a big handle when you hit a rock or the unit will snap your wrists off.

You need a large Hilti hammer drill that will go both directions. Several other brand names out that that are good as well. We screw is tie downs for office trailers and take them out later with no problem.

Good ideas all. I need a gas powered unit that will be able to screw the post both in and out.

They make cordless hammer drills or get a small generator for the day.

i don't think you will find a gas powered unit to do this...it would have to have some sort of transmission to get reverse

I am starting to think on the lines of a hydraulic motor powered by a gas motor that I can put in an inner tube and float along. Now, just to work out the power and flow requirements.
