Ice broke this afternoon still ice flows but FINALLY moving water!

From what I can tell from my bud network lakes in Vilas county broke in last 2 days including Spectacle.

North Twin was black ice today & it is not unusual for North Twin to not break well into the month of May. Lac Vieux Desert I don't know not going that way anytime soon. 3 lakes chain broke not sure about Eagle River Chain but was getting there last week. All lake water level is very high.

Better check your water level 1st most lakes too high need to go down a bit.

Outlets been running fast for weeks now & levels going down should be ok in a week or 2 if we don't get a big rain event.

Just enough open water off my dock on Lac La Belle to cool off after taking sauna this afternoon. Gratiot Lake still looked completely frozen from the summit of Mt. Horace Greeley when I skied up there yesterday, and from the summit of Gratiot Mountain on April 23rd when I skied up there last.

The ice on Lac La Belle is now shifting as I write this, and my "swimming hole" from an hour ago is now laden with icebergs.

Quite the winter/spring in the Keweenaw.

Grass greening up but not a leaf anywhere.

We saw the last of the ice moved into town on North Twin on Friday afternoon/night. Put the dock and lift in Saturday and then watched the ice start moving back to the west/south Sunday morning. Good thing it was only about an inch thick!
