I agree with maddog on the mainline, but I've been using 17-20# florocarbon for the leader. Floro is super strong and abrasion resistant. #8 to #10 treble and your set to go. I tie all my crawler harnesses with 15# floro and i've yet to lose a walleye. And i've caught some giants on Green Bay. Not to mention a bonus muskie every now and then. One thing to remember when fishing floro leaders, you can't horse them, because if they do put a nick in it with their gill plates (northern pike) they will break you off. I never lost one on a floro leader but i'm also catching mostly 25-36" northerns. (knocking on computer desk right now)
