ice on lake nokomis 11-24-13

Looks like Fishtrap.
I watched them pull a truck out of the ice right there in front of Fishtrap years ago when we still had a place on Nokomis.
It is Fishtrap.....and yeah I know the dumbass that put his truck in...lol.....let's just say he wasn't sober...lol The ice is thin...1-2 inches...but if it stays cold this week...I would bet ice fishermen will be out in the bays this weekend....you won't see me out there for awhile...I am the last guy out on the ice (I don't trust what ice fishermen say...EVER)
I also watched a truck get pulled out of the channel by Bootleggers, years ago. He came along the shore from the north and then decided to cross the channel going south in front of Bootleggers. It took 2 days to get him out. They ended up winching him out with a big bulldozer from up in Bootleggers parking lot. I wonder what the price tag was on that recovery.

Yeah, they also pulled one years ago from the big part of the lake. The owner of the old Bull & the Beaver dropped one in.... that one they winched to shore under the ice with Ingmans big wrecker... crushed the roof as they pulled it out...

"Bull and the Beaver", now that is a few years ago. How long has that place been gone, 20 years or so?

Yeah, must be 20 years or so... used to spend some quality time in that place... was trying to think back and it must have been '92 or so since they had that fire that shut it down......
what about the boomba bar? you guys remember that place?

Bull and the Beaver was right across the water/channel from Schaefers Warf, I think there are condos or something there now.

I might be wrong, but this is one of the earliest years I think Nokomis has been froze over.... was up there Sunday just for the day... hope this is a good sign of things to come.

I think its a great sign of things to come. Dont think we will have to worry about ice when the opener comes as nokomis, willow, and other area lakes should def be marked by then. Just need to keep piling the snow on. Hope next weeks weather seals the deal with snow pack for opener

Someone help me out...in the late 2000's we were in a bar in the Tomahawk / Little Rice area and all the sudden the thing filled with smoke and went up in flames. We took off on the sleds and it burnt to the ground. On the trail, on a lake, etc...
