Ice Scratchers

So I've been thinking about installing some ice scratchers (or some variation of) but none of the brands I have come across appear to throw snow/ice into the front of the suspension. Most look to mount to the slide rails and only the back half of the slides get lubricated. Most of my hyfax wear happens near the front idler wheel where the rails start to curve up. Will standard ice scratchers throw snow into this area, or is the purpose just to throw snow into the tunnel and let the track carry it around to the front?

I've seen some people drill holes in the back of their skis and insert a stud or bolt. Do these work and if so, what's the best mounting location; inside, centre or outside of ski?

Thanks,
Joe

I think they throw snow into the track and that carries the snow to the front. I know they work good for long tracks.

I drilled a hole in the back of my ski and put a stud in it, but removed it since it's a pain taking it on and off a trailer. I never even got to try it.

I've used steel type scratchers, Slidekicks, and the wings on my Simmons skis. I like the slidekicks the best, steel 2nd, and wings 3rd. That's on a 900 RMK with a 162 x 2.25. The carbide replacement tips were definitely worth the money on the slidekicks. That's my .02.
