Illinois registration stickers

For those of us that are “fortunate “ enough to live in Illinois, did the DNR change the length of registration? I know in years past they were good for three years. I just renewed my sleds on line and my receipt says it expires next September. Will the stickers say something different when I get them? I hope so! With the increase in fees, shorter duration would really suck!

Nope, no additional trail pass required in Illinois. Only in WI. Thank goodness, running out of places for stickers

I had to get new stickers this year. Sent in for them the week of Thanksgiving and still don't have them. This state is a joke. I have my receipt, so not worried. But zero reason it should take 7 weeks!!

Better off with receipt. No sticker to f/with!!! Go on down there snobuilder!!! They'll take your $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!

Anyone know if the Hennepin canal trails are open? I called the phone number and got their Christmas break business hours - returning on Jan 3. No one answered all week!

If you don't ride the limited trails in northern Illinois I would juse register in Wisc. Send your money where they actually use it for sledding purposes. It's totally legal to do it also. I live in Illinois and refuse to send my sleddin money to the State. Wisc will have your sticker to you in several days.

One thing to remember you can register in Wisconsin and not Illinois but if you ride in Illinois and get stopped you can get a ticket, I know of a few guys that have gotten tickets.

To register as a "out of state registration" in Wis, you are required to have registered in your home resident state also. We were riding with a friend who did not several years ago, and it got very expensive after we were stopped for a check point. He honestly thought he was legal, and hadn't intended not to be. Wishful thinking, and lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$, made for a bad day riding. Illinois resident, Illinois registration. Wisconsin same way. It's called reciprocal law. Most all adjoining states have this on vehicle laws.

I&M canal open last week when I drove by. Not sure about Hennepin.

I'll habe to check that out. Was the ticket in wisc or illinois? I have always registered in wisc and I do it in person at the DNR station. I have been stopped several times at checkpoints riding and never had an issue. Funny thing is we had a fellow rider who had his sled stolen and police never even said anything about it. (Sled was just rode several miles and dumped)

Just saying what happened to a friend of mine, and what the law is. I can assure you that if your drivers license has a IL address, and you show them a Wis registration in your name for the sled your riding, you'll be spending some extra cash. Good luck!!!

Thanks for the info, if that's what is required that's what I will do. Don't need any extra drama while sleddin!

Wisconsin allows out of state registration without regard to registration status in another state. AWSC encourages it as it benefits our program. Also, a drivers license is not required to operate so there is no reason you should have to provide it.
