Illinois Tollways/Driving from Chicago

In case you didn't notice, tolls went up again for those of us with passenger vehicles towing trailers (one axle or two=same). It now costs me $17.85 in tolls ONE WAY to get from basically O'hare airport to the border at Beloit, Wi. Total and utter theft.

If I get on I-94 at Golf road and take that to the Kenosha border, it is $11.35.

It's hard to bitch about trail passes when the crooks form Illinois steal $35 from me every time I tow my sleds or boats up to my favorite areas. I can't wait to retire and GTHO.

Can you use the I-Pass lanes when pulling a trailer?
Yes, no extra charges.

Update....
While I have never seen an extra charge, some people report that they do. (I only tow on IL tollway maybe once or twice a year - single axle)
Using an IPASS or EXPass will save you money.

You can get off at Belvidere exit and take 76 to 43 back to 39/90 to miss a couple tolls.

We also cant wait to get out of this State.....

I moved out of Ilnoise twenty years ago. I dont miss it. Back then, I was spending over $175 a month on tolls just to get to work. While driving down south last week, we hit that one toll on 90 just north of Rockford. And of course, the IPass charged another $20 to my IPass account while they had the chance. :mad-new:

$8 just to get thru Beloit plaza pulling my double axle with truck. I see its now cheaper to go thru tolls at night. 10pm-6am is a 1/3 the cost. So stupid. Wish I could move out of this **** hole

Counting down the year and a half until I can permanently move to MN. Friends at school can't understand why someone wouldn't want to live in Chicago. I tell them I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the reasons why.

blkhwbob.....there IS a way to go with no tolls....I do it with my 4 place....I start from Indiana so adjust from there....I go up I-94 thru the city to exit 29 which is US41 (Skokie valley road)....take that north until it reconnects with I-94 at exit 1B....in the reverse get off at US41 exit 1A or 1B and go south until it reconnects with I-94....no tolls...nada....and its quick too....but I always go at aboot 4 am to avoid rush hour....you have up until 6am after that your done for.....pay the tolls....planning....that's what it is....LOL

Forget 294 and shoot over to 41N. Your already well North of the City. Yeah, it may take you 15 more minutes but no tolls.

From DezPlanes i'd go 41N all the way north to 45 in Oshkosh then 10 to 51 for the western Yopper or just stay on 41 for east Yopper...
