Indy 600 questions - MPG's, oil usage

Question for those who own an Indy 600: what are you getting for MPG's? If I remember reading last year's snowtech long-term test review, they were saying it was very close to what the E-tecs were getting, and with much less oil usage (although I assume it's smart to turn the oil pump up). I'm a year away from a new sled, but that's one I'll be considering. You don't seem to hear any problems with this engine at all.

Can you link to the Snow Tech article?
I read another mags article that said the Indy 600 got 9 MPG in there test.
So much for the so called "test" experts, eh?

Real world 3000 mile test of the Indy 600 shows 3.125 gallons of oil used on an average of 14.5 mpg.

alot of the e-tek guys are claiming 18-20 mpg...not sure of oil usage.

Doo costs aprox. $2800.00 more after all discounts applied so it is your call.

Poo is faster.

My wife went from a etec Renegade to a Indy 600. The ETEC does well when you're light on the throttle, when riding hard and running lakes it's not that much better then the Polaris. I have a Poo 800 SBA, and my wife only uses a little less on fill up's. Same thing with oil, we got roped into that BS in 2012 and bought 2 ETECs 600 and a 800. neither the gas or the oil consumption lived up to what the sales guy's were saying. For a trail sled that Indy 600 rocks! especially for what it costs.

I have an Adventure 600 and a 2014 Indy 600. I ride often with a 600 eTec and he uses less gas. In a 100 mile ride, he was using at least a gallon less than me. However, he always had to burp the sled by pushing down on the rear bumper and he said he could get up to 1 gallon more in that way, so not sure how accurate his fills were each time. I tried that burping on the Poo and it didn't work. When it was full, it was full. The eTec does get better mileage in my experience.

Thanks to the EPA, they both sip the oil, I would turn the oil pump up 3 full turns. Not sure what will be able to be done with the new electronic oil pump. I was then using about 1 quart every 120-130 miles.

I can't find an internet link, but I have the magazine in front of me. I keep the long-term test issues, since I think this is where the best info is...

It says "fuel consumption was actually very close to the Ski-Doo 600, usually amounting to a half gallon difference at most fills, and the amount of oil it used was downright scary as it barely used any oil at all, even over the course of 200-300 mile rides." This was on a review of the 13 Switchback Pro-R, and the 600 Doo they were comparing to was the MX Z X 600 HO E-TEC.

I'm a year off from the next sled, but I'm starting to get excited about what's out there.
