Indy trail

We have a 97 Indy trail I believe it is a 480 fan. Anyways the engine was rebuilt a few years ago and runs like a top but this year it started acting funny. Starts and run awesome but when you would let off the gas completely to idle it would die. We would have to play with it a little and keep blipping the gas when stopped to keep it alive. Took the carbs off and cleaned them spotless and blew some pressurized air in all the jets but it still is acting funny. Is it a stator? Or what even is that I've tried to read up on what they are. Thanks guys...

First start with compression test if good sync carbs if they are clean. Remove the air box.Take a 3/16 drill bit and open carbs with throttle insert drill bit under slide adjust idle screw till it starts to lift slide off bit. Mark your idle screw with paint or something then do the other carb.when you are done you can put a finger on each slide and see when you open throttle they open the same time. Adjust with cable adjustments on carb caps.do not adust idle with cable adjustment.if you have to adjust idle speed your now marked idle screws will be easyer to keep even

there are two switches in the throttle block the flipper has to touch one of them or no spark , how much play in cable ? don't make this harder to fix than you have to , if you rest your thumb on the flipper and it keeps running adjust the cable a few turns , it adjusts on the top of the carbs

The sled is up at my lakehouse so I don't know when I would be able to get to it soon. I have to take it to the dealer because it got rolled and messed up the side of the headlight. I probably will just ask them to look at it then. I didn't know if anyone had this problem before and maybe it was a fast fix.

Well it is a pretty "fast fix" I had my Switchback throttle cable loosen up while in the U.P. didn't want to idle and would backfire every time I let off the throttle, RP7X just ask Gary, at Settler's Co Op my sled blew a flame out the exhaust after it backfired. I adjusted it in the gas station parking lot in 2 minutes.
