I can't read anything but your post title (by my choice) but I picked up a Verizon 8' tablet for $40 (after rebate) about a month ago. I know this is a special Verizon deal but I thought I'd mention it.

I personally think Apple is too high cost. I've always been PC, Android user. For what you post you want to do, a tablet would do everything you're looking for. Haven't priced them in a year or so but I'd bet you could be in at well under $100.

Mostly for the wife & she likes her Iphone... last time I fooled around with an Ipad very intuitive to Iphone software. I could buy her an Ipad & get something else for me as I have no bond to Iphone software so I'm wide open to best bang for the buck.

I will start off by saying that I am no computer guy AT ALL!!!!

I have an Ipad (that work provided) and it works well, it is a 32 GB size. I am also looking for another device for the wife and kids, don't care what it is. But after a little reading and looking on line a lot of the lower cost options only have 8 GB. Again from what I have read a lot of the apps these days can consume a GB or more, then toss in some pics and some music your 8 GB is gone real quick. So just some thing to keep in mind when you looking. If you find any great deals speak up.

thanks

I've had good luck with apple products. IMO Apple OS is much more stable than android or Windows. Is it worth $$$ more? Well I guess that's up to you. But it is worth it to me. I've had android and windows in past before. I would not be against a android phone, but I use my iPads more than I use my phone. If you want to mod your stuff, then android is only way to go.
Just my experince. I'm no fan boi of Apple, but the stuff certainly works.

Very good points my wife wants electronics to work in a New York nano second sometimes she just starts pushing buttons before I can say wait give it chance then locks up too many commands all at once. If it don't work it will go where the sun don't shine & I sure don't need that!lol

I used one PC in our home as a guinea pig about two months ago. Had the same "free update to Win10" prompts. Decided that after hearing after early positive reviews to give it a try. All was good until an update came out last Tuesday AM. Teh PC was rendered unusable.

Reinstalled Win10 and after that same update on Wednesday (no way to stop updates in Win10) same thing. I gave up and went back to Win7.

If y'all think I'm FOS....go to this link. 130+ pages of HELP ME!...and no help from MS.

If she already has an iPhone go with the ipad. We have two of them they are easy to use and stable. I've thought about going to a Mac the next time I need a new laptop.

I would agree if she has an Iphone get her an Ipad all her contacts will be there. She will be able to answer calls on it also. I just got my first Iphone a few months ago. I do miss some of the things Android had but you get use to whatever you have now. Its just like the 2 stroke Vs 4 stroke and I am with you on the 4 stroke Yamaha

We have one of the original iPad's, it's right at five years old. As I type this my son is streaming Netflix on it, it is used every single day for streaming, browsing, email etc.. We have not had one bit of trouble out of it and it still works flawlessly. When we bought it we didn't skimp on a case, we bought a Gumdrop case that has protected it well, when we take it out of the case to clean it the iPad looks like brand new. My daughter has an iPad mini that she uses daily as well, no problems with it either. That's my two cents regarding the iPads. Now, don't get me started on my JUNK iPhone 5c, I can not get unsaddled from this POS fast enough. Our entire family is Apple and other than my phone we love it.

My two cents.

don't know about cable tv. but I know people in cyber security and they have shown me that in under 10 min they can watch me through my lap top knowing nothing but my e mail even with lap top in hibernation.oh and this is fully under the influence prob much faster when not loaded .they tell me all U have to do is open picture and in a month check back in and grab all your security key strokes. U are pretty much just 1 a hole away from a major financial headache.
