So my bud and co-worker just told me that he has a family vaca planned for Disney World, Orlando Florida starting a week from today. How do you think thats gonna work out for him? Doesn't look good. Irma is a monster storm. Thoughts are with all affected. What a mess. I tell ya I would take a 20 below zero day or the worst blizzard way before I would want to live where tropical storms could destroy me... Yuck

Unless the eye wall goes over Orlando which is highly unlikely at this time Orlando wind damage should not be too bad. Flooding is not a risk in Orlando either. The east coast of FL will be be a mess with surge and wind. I grew up on the east coast 35 miles inland and usually does not exceed 80mph winds which can knock down a lot of trees, signs and stuff but flooding can be a nightmare. Irma and FL will be bad and terrible in the eyewall and on the coast.

I have friends in Orlando and they're starting to get a little nervous about this storm. I know Disney is west of them, too.

This is going to be a hard one to predict until it passes. The latest track just moved west to central fl. I have been following this one very closely as I just got home from moving my daughter and new son in law into their new house in West Palm Beach area. They luckily bought a newer home with lots of hurricane code upgrades etc. Basically all of the neighbors are edgy about this one but say the new houses with hurricane shutters work really well. They are on higher ground with not a lot of worries about flooding.

WD, they have most everything, water, grill, canned food, bought generator. Any other helpful suggestions other then leave now? Turnpike backed up, low on gas at fuel stations. Not sure I want them trapped in stopped traffic on roads leaving. They are in Royal Palm Beach?

Good news he is in the disaster roof repair business. Just didn't think it would take a week to get work.

Until just now it appeared that they were dead center for the eye of the storm. Now with the eye moving west they might be along the east wall of the eye.

Northeast of the eye wall always seems to be the worst but a Cat 4 with tornados, rain & tstorms anything can happen.....A Cat 5 no question seek shelter 200 mile winds you just don't stay!

My little brother & his family moved down North Port a year ago. I also have an Aunt & Uncle in Lakeland as well as a nephew in Titusville. Needless to say, they all say they're staying put. Not sure I would, in fact, I know I wouldn't. Friends in Key West left today. Now it appears this monster is going to engulf the entire Florida peninsula. To add further insult, there is another hurricane (Jose) on it's heels & following the same path. I hope that all that have decided to stay will be ok after all is said & done.-Mezz

Sorry for the side tracker, just got caught up in the moment, needless to say, you may want to reschedule this trip. Obviously, this is going to create a huge mess.

Was down there for a wedding almost 10 years ago to the day, hurricane Hanna was meandering around the East side of the state. Even back then Disney
was telling people to get out or bunker down with plans in place. We ended up driving to the west side of the state and stayed on the beach in Clearwater the whole day as it passed.

Disney had it pretty well planned out, but with how Irma looks, I would cancel easily. Doubt they would have power or water, gas/travel would be non existant, food would be short. It's gonna take time for the state to recover.

I would say the Disney trip would be a no go for sure. Even Limbaugh, with all his Irma talk this week, turned tail with all his BS, and ran. ??????????? Amazing.

Half of the state will be torn up. Probably for a long time. Cancel your trip. If you must spend money travel to NW MN and watch the leaves blow around. I will sell you some overpriced beverages and take you for a ride on a tractor so it will be just like Disney. You can stay in my shed.

We have been to Disney and also their cruise many times.
I would rebook as that state will be a mess for the next month or more.

Just talked with him this morning and he said his wife is leaning towards cancel. They had bought the insurance? IDK. Even if Disney is good the rest of the state is not....
