Iron River, MI to Big Spring by Manistique?

Don't usually ask a question like this, but going to a different area, is this a doable day trip there and back?
Miles?

Thanks, Brent

Never rode the way you want to go. We always ride out of Munising. If you do get over there, check out the new remodeled restaurant, super good food!!

As far as I know, trail wise, there is still a void area in Delta County that forces you north to trail 8 (just south of Munising) and then back south on 7. The trick would be to find secondary roads off of trail 16 to get you to Rapid River. Trail 16 runs along hwy 69 between Escanaba and Crystal Falls. At that, you will probably be close to a 300 mile round trip. Using trail 8 & 7 might be as much as 400 miles. Currently, I think the snow cover in that area might be marginal.

upsledder is right. There is not trail from Escanaba to Rapid River. You would have to find your own way on the side of roads. Going up and around on trail 8 is going to be around 400 mile round trip.

Thanks for the help, may have to make it an overnight trip.
Was thinking the upper route look better on the map anyway.

There you go. Overnighters are great and yes, the upper route would always be better. Still would be nice to see that loop completed someday.

Near as I can tell from the maps closest route from Iron River would be the following trails: 16 to 5 to 32 to Gwinn.......from there trail 8 all the way almost to Munising then south on 7 to Big Spring........and like others said this will be over 400 mi. round trip.......I know it's 70+ miles from my place (20 mi. south of Munising off of trail 7) to Gwinn and it's still 25 or so to Big Spring..........ambitious trip.......good luck........and no worries about snowcover.......it's fine well south of Big Spring..........
