Or have these prices not gone down for at least 5 years? For petes sake everyone wants $2500 for a 12 year old sled!!! Most 01 XC 600s with 5k miles people want $2500. You can get an 06 Fusion 600 with 3k miles for $3200 or an 07 iq 600 with 3k for $4000. Why in the world do people want so much for these things? My dad wants to upgrade so bad but I don't let him buy one because people want WAYYYY too much! I mean c'mon they have trailing arms and carbs!

Those are just a few. I paid $2300 for my 05 XC SP 500 2 years ago with 2200 miles. I thought that was a "good" deal because for another $1k you can get a rider forward fusion but you look at what people want for these dang things that was a steal!

Indy alot has to do with people not wanting to pay 9-12000 for a new sled so the used market is very high now, and for the most part people can work on these sleds and they have proven to be very reliable machines, and some people like sit down sleds that have decent wind protection to the rider forward/standup style.

I've noticed that also...I think the prices of ALL used sleds have gone up though, as the new iron keeps getting more expensive, improving the resale of the old in the process. Also, with smaller numbers of new sales every year, each used one is more valuable. Not to mention the edge chassis is hard to beat in terms of reliability, ease to work on if necessary, etc. The Fusions and early IQ's with EFI don't have the same reputation as the Edge did, fair or not.

Agree Indy, and Agree Bradzoo.

When I bought my Gen II SKS 3+ years ago, I didn't want to pay 3K, and found those Edge's were all around that. And here in the Twin Cities, some still are! So for $1800, got a nice Gen II with less than 2k miles, and put a couple hundred into it for general maintenance. Theres the easy to work on. And IMO, unless you live in a snow belt, 10K is a waste for a new sled. Unless, of course you can pay cash, we gotta have those people as well to prep the market for us tinkerers in a few years!

It seems like there are not as many older used sleds sitting around lately. I was in a dealer that normally sells a lot of used equipment and they had nothing left for inventory. Maybe the market is finally turning for people that are used to getting beat up trying to sell used machines?

Not much to add from what Hoosier & Bradzoo have already said.

I really did like my EDGE 500XCSP in all regards but really do like the riding position of the newer models like the IQ and Pro-Ride chassis. It would be hard to go back to a "sit-down" sled like the EDGE chassis for me.

Hard for me to believe that XC500 in the original post has only 652 milles? Should look NEW, engine compartment looks like it has a few more miles than the odo shows. $3k for that sleds is high, not even a VES engine.

Edge chassis are kick butt especially with the M10. The early Fusion chassis had hard steering and some reliabity issues. I ride a Rush and I still miss 2002 700 X Edge.

yup. Many sleds will reach a "plateau" in depreciation and not budge for many years. I sold an '04 rev in '08 for $4k. They are still bringing that today, even though it is 5 years later. That being said, you also have to look at what the sleds are actually sold for, not just the asking price. Many people are very "proud" of there junk!

I came across a 1990 indy sport 340 last year for $700. Thought it would make a good beater for the kids. No snow last year and never had a chance to run it. This year I go to get it dialed in and it wont idle right. Come to find out I have a bad mag side crank seal. Tear into it and find trashed crank bearings and a scored mag side cylinder. So much for a "cheap" beater. Now I'm on the hunt for a motor. People want any where from $250-$600 for a 20 year old 340 motor. Silly! Started looking around at what these things are going for, and you can't find one in decent shape, running, for less than $1200-$1500. Its a 20 year old 340!!! But, it is what it is.

By the way, if anyone has a indy 340 motor laying around, I'm in the market!

As snoluver1 just pointed out, PARTS. There are a lot of these sleds out there that people still enjoy riding, and need parts for. Parting out a machine like these can easily bring $2500-$3000 if seat/motor/track are still in good shape.

Polaris refers to Edge & Wedge owners as stagnant buyers. The New Indy 600 was supposed to get them to trade in the their old iron & buy 2013 Indys. Still a lot of money when the old sled runs so well & non current Rush can be bought for about the same bucks. Maybe New Indys will sell with snow & when non current Rush inventory has been cleared out?

It took me a while to find 3 XC 500's for the family. I did not want to put the kids and wife on a 600, it would be a waste. I think that might some of the reason it is hard to find these sleds. The kids may ride two or three weekends so it makes nosense investing in a new sled that is harder to work on. I do have a IQ and a Rush and would not trade either one to ride an XC, but the family likes them

I was looking at a chart of sled sales and prices.. They sell about 1/2 as many new as they did 10 years ago and the prices have almost doubled. I wonder why that is?????????

Hard to spend $12-14000 and see it sit in the garage every couple years because of no or marginal snow conditions plus many of us babyboomers don't have the income we previously had to blow on toys and our kids may not be able to afford a new sled. I bought my last new sled as a 2 year old distressed sled and paid $4900 for a new sled that listed at $9300.

To me, thats all I'd pay.

One of my friends (a bit older than me) has an 07 iq 600 ho with carbs which is exactly what i want. it has 2k miles he'd let it go for $4k but doesn't quite want to sell it yet, he may hold onto it another year. Either way why is an 07 rider forward sled with a digital display and a much better suspension all around with 2k miles only $4k and people want a little less than that for an edge? old analog speedo, most of these guys with the edges dont even have the p.a.s.s. seat like mine or perc reverse 2 huge bonuses that i dont know what i'd do without.

Those iq 600 are good sleds but i would strongly recommend going with the cfi over carbs when you are ready to upgrade. The 08 600 cfi was a slight bit quicker than my 05 xc 800 up to 70 they rip!

I just dont feel comfortable with polaris cfi sleds. Dont see too many with high miles running around without being on their 2nd motor. I put on 3k miles a year, I cant afford new so most of my sleds already have 2-3k miles when i get them. I like to keep them 2 years and need the comfort of knowing it will last a solid 8k miles. A 4s would be nice but not sure im ready for that yet, i like my lightweight oil burners.
