is the mat down yet??

Coming up sunday and was just curious if they have put the mat down on the bridge yet??

The latest update from the chamber said mid January, safe to cross without the mat down just go slow.

I know the bridge is shut down Jan 17th from 9pm-7am the 18th and I thought i heard after that it will be down.

Why does everyone worry so much about that dam mat? Sick of reading about it, Years ago they never had a mat there and people went across it all the time. Just go over it and close your ears, not much different than going across roads really. If you dont like it zip across the canal . it takes 15 seconds and is always smooth , there Im done!!!!!

From what I heard a buddy watched 3 people late at night cross the canal from the Ramada parking lot around new years, and they were breaking through almost halfway across.

I was up at the Ramada the day after xmas...two guy ripped across the canal and clearly made it no problems..Nuts I thought!

Many sleds have crossed on the ice, NO i'm not telling its 100% safe...just saying many have crossed. If you do, dont stop half way and start doing jumping jacks. Dont floor it wide open all the way across in hopes to blow a belt half way across either. Just cross it at a normal speed if you choose that route.

Im not saying to do it until its safe! We have been doing it for a lot of years but not until theres a ton of tracks on it.And with the warmer temps. early on it takes it takes awhile longer for good ice.

The problem with no mat is that grate is a great carbide remover! Cross it enough times and you might as well pull into M&M and buy new ones!!
