Hello. I am wondering if anybody out there can give me an idea if this is a good deal or not.

I am looking at buying a used sled, its an 2003 Arctic Cat F7 EFI with a 151x2x13.5 track. It has a tunnel extension kit and it was all done right. It also comes with a 144 track and suspension as well. The sled has 4800miles and the guy wants $3300. The sled is in great looking shape and is said to run just as good as it looks.

Is this a good deal? The milage is a little on the high side to me, but my last sled was a 95 xlt special with the 600 triple and I had over 10Kmiles on that and never once touched the motor.

I have looked at many of the F series sleds and with everything stock there are still going for more than this.

Is there anything good bad about these sleds????? I am kinda new to the Cat scene!

any help or info would be great!

That depends....

I'm an avid snowmobilier with a little experience. I believe that the 2003 F7 was a hot sled back in it's day. It depends what you plan to do with it ( your riding habits ). I would check some other forums and do some reading . I like HCS & Artic Chat for cat related tech issues. To me... those miles don't concern me, the tunnel extension would. Look at the sled, was it a hack job or something done with pride in craftsmanship ? Do a compression check, look over the suspension, check the shocks, track, general condition of the machine ect... There will be a lot of sleds coming onto the market soon. That sled is 8 yrs old and things fatigue . I wouldn't jump at any sled in the middle of summer unless I knew the owner and it was an unbeatable deal . Being modded could open up a can of worms for you come riding time if your not careful. Just my .02 !

Nothing beats AC 03 F7 engine wise if mods are right a very fast sled. BUT it is a very high strung 700 & with that you have problems. AC also was leading the market with light weight sleds in those days sooooooooo many problems with skinny design as well & then twinspar came along & AC was very willing to let the light weight chanpion go elsewhere.lol So when running & holding together 03 F7 runs with big 4s & 800 2s today. How long is the question? If you can keep the sled together & like to wrench buy it. There will be problems but nothing like it when running well.:)

Back in the day I stretched a factory 144" long track 2004 F7 to 151". The sled, now on its third owner, has over 7,000 miles on it and has been bulletproof with only normal wear items like hyfax, belts and carbides.

The miles wouldn't scare me if sled has been taken care of over the years.

I believe this was one of their quickest 700's for their time. Reliability wise it is not even near to the 600 triple. I was close to picking one up a few years ago for a great price. When I talked to a previous owner he went down a short list of things that will go wrong for sure and that was enough for me to pass.

95 xlt special 600 triple vs 03 F700 long track have nothing in common so strange to go from trail sled to a powder sled mod. What is your riding style??

Well it wasnt a stock XLT. It had a 136x1.5" track with 04 M Cat bars with a riser on top of that.

I like to ride off trail more than anything, but do some trail riding.

Then you should like the F7 a lot.... a good upgrade with all that track. Probably good bang for the buck. Ezra is a cat man also has F7 for straight line racing & knows how to make F7 scream. I still think you will be wrenching but most cat guys do at least the ones I ride with.lol :)

One of the guys I ride with has over 10,000 miles on that engine in that chassis (sabercat). Not bad on gas with the EFI.

Seems like a strange sled to lengthen with the skinny track, but that's just my opinion.

KBB retail is $2450. There was a guy on ebay trying to sell one with performance parts on it, nice sled, low miles. His reserve was $3200, highest bid was $2700 or so.

Here is good feedback. So the answer for me would be " wait for something else ". If you have 33 your not too far off from buying something substancially newer . You just need patience and to hunt down a " deal ". ( IMO )
