Day 3...
Fresh snow today and this evening made for low visibility. Big fluffy flakes, much needed in the hills. There is a great base with a strong crust but it will give way to the sugar underneath. There are pockets of sugar here and there too. We headed up near lion head to the north and explored around Dry Creek and Targee Creek. Poking around on the ridges and ravines mad for a good day in the trees with the low visibility.

Here is a shot from the top of Jefferson 10500ft, went there on day two and posted some high marks. We didn't take the pass your talking about(shotgun to white elephant). We scaled the south east side of Sawtell and poked our way into Jefferson near white elephant then moved north ripping up the range. Dropped off Yahoo and down to Red Rock. Now that was a run for the boys.

Sounds like something I wish I would have done when I was 30 Years younger than I am. I was happy to get as high as I did when I went up to Jefferson in 08.

Thats one experience you get at Island Park that makes it worth the Drive. Have fun and be carefull, last time I was there I watched search and rescue go up to Jefferson.

Nop, Its Jefferson. Go a couple miles west of Shotgun, then go north up thru hells Canyon and follow the tracks. This is where the big Boys go to play.

We found it today. Going back tomorrow. Barely put a dent in it today. Storm came in while up top. Headed to shotgun to regroup. Storm got worse so called it a day at 3pm. Should have tons of new Pow in am.

Hey guys don't forget to go to the fishing bridge, really nice cut throat trout, and sometimes moose, as well as cute muskrats, also the plateu area is nice, hard to belive the area still shows signs of previous years back of the fires. Mesa falls area as well, did you make it to **** roaring cannon? The Imax and the Grizzly/Wolf park is nice to see in Yellowstone. There's a bar in town that serves Moose Drewl Beer and it's decorated in Green Bay Packer backer stuff, good food!

No time for the Imax (have one back home). Checked out every Bar in West Yellowstone so we thought. Spent time drooling myself at Polaris West. Did see a moose though.

If you Go West of Red Rock there is a Moose reserve you drive thru. The Snow gets a little thin out there. There is a small Bar by a Lake thats a nice stop, then you cross the Lake and double back. The Trail is ungroomed west of Red Rock, its worth the Trip if you have time.

Longtrack, had a great day! We hooked up with some locals. (Owners of slidekicks). Did not make it to ELK LAKE. Rode up in the deep at Keg Springs again. Then stamp meadows after shotgun. Rode clark co/fremont co. Line up to the sheep experment area. Mostly rode backside of Mt. Jefferson. I am suppling wintertime with pics from this phone. Kinda hard to resize larger.
