Island Park Idaho

We are looking to go snowmobliing at Island Park this late Feburary, looking at possibly driving out there verse flying. Has any of the John Dees family here drove to this part of the counrty?
Thanks Howie

Looking to see which way is best to drive, have been told to take 94 accross, but 90 looks like a better way to go. Was told the drive takes about 19hrs, is that sound about right?
Thanks for any insight on this.

Drove it the first week of march last year. Drive was the worst white knuckle experience ever on the way out. Snow and Ice from Fargo to Dickenson and there where cars and tractors in the ditch everywhere. Pulled off at midnight somewhere outside of Fargo a few hours after doing 20 miles an hour for 3 hours. Can be good and bad going through Nodak and Sodak can be the same. It was about 20hr drive to the Minneapolis area on our way home with no weather issues.

Done it twice Both times I had a driver and I just goofed off as a passenger. Had good roads both times. I was there just before or after Willey by a day and that is all it takes sometimes. went 90/94 both times.

I prefer 94 over 90 given similar weather conditions but both will get you there. The stretch from sturgis, to montana can suck big time in the snow on I-90. The drive is 22 ish hours from Milwaukee with dry roads. Add in weather, and it could be 2 days, which is just part of the deal driving west in the winter. We have been stopped by closed roads about 25% of the time when traveling in January/February.

The drive either route is pretty laid back when the roads are dry. Add in some snow and wind, and it will be a pants shizzing, white knuckle experience where you feel like you are about to crash at any moment for hours on end. All part of the experience I guess!

Have gone both ways multiple times and seems like 94 is the better route for us. Have had some really hairy rides going both ways. Takes us about 24 hours from the UP.

Made multiple trips to Island Park as well. We always preferred 94, but its all about the weather. Sometimes 90 was dangerous when 94 was fine, and vice versa. But assuming both roads are clear 94 saves us 2hrs, leaving central WI. Just really plan ahead on your fuel stops on 94. We always had 2 cans of fuel in the trailer just in case.

You will not be let down on the sledding in IP! Have a great time if you go.

There have been some changes to ID reg laws. Be sure to check way in advnce if you take your own sleds. Could save you a wasted trip.
