Never raced bikes, but, been over 160 on a Suzuki GS1100E. All I can say is, what a RUSH! Glad I was young and dumb and still around to tell about it. Racing at that speed though, No dice for me, especially now...then again, don't know if I would have tried it back in the day. :hororr::cool3::cool:-Mezz

Hit 124 3 years ago with my friend heading north on 55 out of Lily, WI, he has a B-King and I "had" a Bandit 1250.
Strangely enough, it was like time slowed down as I hugged the bike fully with hands clenched and laser focus.
Taking Hwy 55 north outta Keshena is a sweet road on a cycle (fun in the SS too).

haha remember the old aviator sunglasses with metal frames....we were doing tickle belly hills in the country roads that's where ya fly airborne at 140 MPH over hills on county road 750 north and the likes.....so we get into town which was a one light town and only 300 people so no one around basically....stop at the light...the second I stopped my glasses hit the gas tank and then the ground...I looked down and they were completely flat....the ear pieces and lens frame were all one straight piece of metal with 2 lenses in them....we were going so fast it had flattened them out on me head and the wind force was all that kept them on...didn't even notice....I am all plastic now....LOL...it had pressed them so hard into my eye sockets that the ear pieces bent outward.....was really cool...only did that once

yes that is some amazing skills for sure...I would like to have a look at their hand grips after the race....I have gone so low to the road as the scrape off the rubber grip just a tad on the lower parts of each grip...amongst some other stuff...wonder if they scrape a tad here and there from going so low....at low speed it can wipe you out....at high speeds ya just grind off a skotch....sure would be interesting to look over them bikes afterwards to see whats what

PS...my bars were longer...I think todays bars are shorter and straighter to eliminate that effect....gonna have to rewatch it carefully now....don't like the sound of them 4 strokes either...just sounds slower for some reason

This is a must watch!! you can see how emotional the riders after the race. I could only imagine the "come down" after that ride...

that is one awesome race there, and them riders really push there limits
I wish I was younger and had faster reflexes again LOL Eye's too

I have raced a little on super bike courses, mostly ovals and the such, If anyone watches NASCAR< the Pocono, race, I raced that track a bunch of times on a few different bikes, even got some laps in on the track in a few cars and even a truck!
but that extreme stuff is behind me now, just don't have the reflexes or skills I once did

but still enjoy watching races like this and those that run the risks they do!

wow awesome MRBB...and I can totally relate to the getting older and less chances now....you would still be good though....just don't worry about recovery time or dieing....and I certainly don't push it as hard as I used to...except sleds....I still push those really hard as snow gives a tad more than concrete...that's not to say you don't see purple and silver stars on either machine when hitting the pavement though...fell off me sled at 90MPH on glare ice on the fox lake chain dare...damn those little ice bumps...damned if they don't burn clean thru ya suit and bibs and jeans and man o man does it get hot on the skin wherever ya roll to which side to cool it off.....heres the scraping I would love to ask the riders aboot

HAHA I hear you on the ground not getting any softer as we age, snow does help some, but , that ice is pretty darn hard still for me too! I sure don't bounce like I used !

my fastest off a bike was at about a 120 and was lucky pavement was smooth and I didn;t hit anything to stop me faster, just slide it out, ate thru my leathers and gave me some new scratches that stayed till today LOL

I have to admit I am WAY slower now than ever , mostly due to Vision problems, that sooner or later will be what ends me riding anything at all, complication from other health issue's that keep my vision on a constant decline and it SUCKS, my depth perception is WAY off, I cannot tell you how many times day I over reach for things and peel off finger nails on a regular basis due to it!

getting old sucks, but getting old with a ton of injuries, is even less fun!
all the more so when desire in the head is there to DO so many things, the body just says NO to now!

but these guys in this race, some are truly super skilled riders, RIGHT on the edge so often, Yea just got to love watching them , or I sure do!

never took a really hard hit on concrete like you have at 120...lost a front tire on a 4 laner like cicero avenue and slid into oncoming but luckily no one ran over me since it was at 40mph....but on a sled as you say still have the marks today....I have 2 blue vein spider webs on each thigh from the handle bars....was running the farm fields in Indiana and you know those ditches that are aboot 30 feet wide and 20 feet deep....well I didn't see one at night in time..was over running headlights at aboot 75MPH.....I cleared that sucker...almost....and PILE DROVE it into the other bank aboot 3 feet below the flat land at 70MPH....it went so deep into the mud and snow that my sled was not visible....only the top of windshield with black rim on it was sticking up aboot 4 inches....it was stuck so hard we had to get a winch and a pickup truck and 6 guys to pry it out...I of course went like a rag doll even with the field for aboot 1 city block...cartwheels and all...knocked me boots clean off...bent the bars with me thighs.....damn spider veins wont go away...and its in the shape of a star burst....LMAO.....that was cat life number 7 used all up.....LMAO

HAHA< got to love to have a bunch of stories to tell that we walked away from(well some times carried away LOL)

in my younger days, between me and my buddy's, it was someone was in the ER at least once a week for about 10 yrs, MAN we were slow learners I guess, but fun, just had more appeal to it to us than worrying about the pains that set in as you get older
I sadly had a lot of friends that I seen get life flighted away and well, several didn;t make it
I had a buddy do something like you on a dam spill way, they some time while we were GONE from the area a bit, decided to blow the dam
and my buddy came down the road leading to it about 80 mph and well, by the time he realized the dam road wasn't there no more, he was off the edge on one side and hit the wall on the other side
he lived, but wasn't a fun recovery on that one, broken back and a lot of other bones
the amount of things I did, and or was near, is just insane, I lived a rather full life when it comes to wacky wild things
from the explosives, machine guns, tanks, air planes, helicopters , MX/street bikes, sleds, atv's monster trucks, off shore race boats, and ????
I can sure look back and LAUGH at all the dumb things I did and was a part of
never much dull moments in a lot of my life
however, the past few yrs , things have slowed way down, from all them injuries and extreme risks and fun
still enjoy seeing others do what I once did, some days even more so than me doing it!
often wonder what I would be like if I had more of the modern things that exist when I was a kid? as time sure have changed!
all these camera's every where, would have me locked up I think however! LOL that's one thing I am SO glad I didn;t have in my younger days, Video of everything??
I lived in the GREY area of life more than not!

I had a 2003 GSX RR Suzuki 600 for a short while during my lady chasing days. Them chicks loved them crotch rockets.... Anyway I thought I would see what it would do. Pulled clutch lever to hit 6th gear and I was doing 155 on the speedo. Needless to say I didn't shift into 6th. Scary how fast you could go and felt so smooth. Im with you guys though. Glad them days are behind me.
