It's been awhile since we've had a Snowstorm like this last one. Maybe not since Gramps (pictured above) had to put chains on the Studebaker!
We all remember the storms of our youth and they always seemed larger than the present. Snowed in for days, no school, everything frozen including Dad who cursed the snowplow driver each time he plowed in the driveway. Well depending on where you live, east central Wisconsin had a storm to remember this week. Here in Neenah, they pretty much closed down the Interstate by closing the ramps. Too many vehicles in the ditches, so they just left them where they landed. The totals haven't come in yet but we're well north of a foot of snow. I've seen estimates as high as 30 inches. The first was the wet and heavy kind, then the lighter stuff blowing in all directions. The local TV people are besides themselves, calling it the "Ides of March". And for once, the forecasters got it right. Not just the amounts but the longevity of this storm is going on it's third day.
So we're hunkered down. The dog went out to pee, took a few steps, a squat, and right back in the house. We've got a fire going in the fireplace and a bunch of Landman episodes I need to catch up on. I'll save the clean up outside for when the winds finally die down. It's nice to know that Mother Nature still has the ability to create a snowstorm like that of my youth. Just a few weeks too late to enjoy with a snowmobile. That would truly be epic!
