First thing on my news today..... There is a petition signed by 22000 people to replace a Confederate statue in Louisiana with a statue of Britney Spears. I think I am going the Skylar route from now on. Too much is too much.

Why, so I can be pissed off over stuff I have no control over? No thanks!

Precisely. Little of it is even news anymore - - mostly spin (if not outright lies) , propaganda, opinion, sensationalism, and Orange Man bad. Hardly worth the effort it takes to push the buttons on the remote.

Exactly. It used to be some what entertaining just to see what they would say next, not anymore. Its all out warfare via the media now. ALL types of "entertainment" have been sucked into bowing down, or risk being shut out of the academy entirely.

Skylar. I don't know you but having read your posts over all of these years you seem like a very nice guy and a patriot. I agree it seems like we can't do anything about this craziness, but I feel like we have to know who's changing our country right before our very eyes and why. Something has to be done. Not sure what that is right now, but I do know we all can't just sit here and watch it happen.

Here's a good one - The Social Justice Warriors found a potentially racial slur on FakeBook made by a CEO of a company in MPLS 6 years ago, when said CEO was 17. Her father subsequently fired her, but decided to just close his doors for good over the impending backlash that was being organized against the company.

Can't make it up anymore!

All I can do right now is vote. Which I will, like I always have. I live in a very rural area, and I recreate in a very rural area. Both places are considered "red" territory. I have not personally seen any riots, protests, or anything of that nature. So, unless I read about it, I have no idea what is going on, and I like it that way. Make no mistake though, if someone, or some group, threatens my family or friends, well, then bad things will happen to them, and I will feel no remorse.

The worst threat to this country is the media, and social media. The amount of info, fake or not, available is staggering. The power the tech companies have to manipulate the way people think is scary. I just spent 4 days in the yoop with my mom. She is 77 years old. I told her there will be no news on the TV while you are here, matter of fact we hardly watched any TV, she just texted me and told me those 4 days with no news was very refreshing.

I do not know what the answer is to any of the bs that is going on right now, all I do know is, the less I know, the happier I am.

TV has gotten to be junk. I have about 400 channels. All the 'news' channels are crap. Even the local news is crap. The weather stations are all about sensationalism about how many million are at 'risk' of whatever weather pattern is going on. There is no sports going on now but even when football starts up again I won't watch it. Not because of kneeling or other crap like that. Football games last too long and there are too many commercials and instant replay sucks. I got rid of all my TVs at the lake. I would rather read a book. But it is hard to get away from all the hoopla. My phone has a whole new set of garbage on it every morning when I wake up. Most of the rest of the people I interact with every day are tuned in to what ever the latest media concoction may be. Much of it is pure BS. The whole Corona thing is a good example. It is almost as if there was some big New Years bash for all the world leaders and they decided to have a contest to see how much fear they could instill on each of their countries. The country that keeps its population six feet away from each other and wears masks the longest gets to buy Greenland for a buck.

Weather, I use 3 sources, John, the NWS out of Marquette and the NWS out of Milwaukee. No politics, no bs.

I can't disagree with most if not all of what you said. In fact, I do exactly what you did when you were in the U.P.

I was mostly referring to more of an ongoing basis. As much as we try to tune out the events going on, they are still happening. It's people like you, me and most of us here on JD that, I believe will end up having to do something about this nonsense if it keeps up. There has to be push back at some point. Voting is huge. One concern I have is that the people tuning out will be the same people not bothering to vote in November.
