Imo the only sensible thing to do at this time in the season. Anyone who understands what goes into trail maintenance and preparation knows it’s over in Oneida and Vilas counties just too warm to start with no base to groom and March sun. It would be a total waste of time and risk to grooming equipment for little to no return. Finally it’s official in Oneida. I get it in this unfortunate winter season a good decision.
And also for the first time ever, the trails in Brown County, WI were open for a week longer (Jan 15-22) that Oneida County, WI!!! For most of the last 10 years, trails in Brown County rarely opened at all even though, IMO, they could have.
