Jiffy's New Propane Powered Ice Auger

Anyone seen these in action? Was watching a fishing show and they were saying these are the way to go. Low emissions, no flooding, no gas/oil mixing. Looks like they would be great. Said they were good up to -20. Opinions or ideas?

I saw a factory rep demo one at mills fleet farm, he fired it up in the store, no stink, started first pull. I think it sounds like a great idea. he did say that it would likely not start below 10 or 20 below as propane won't vaporize at very cold temps. It's heavier than my strikemaster, but I'd seriously consider it.

Have you guys ever seen an auger attached to hammer drill? I was out fishing last year a a couple guys came out with one. Totally silent. I talked to the guy a bit and he said he can drill about 25 6" holes on one charge. He modified a 6" strikemaster to fit the drill.

i've seen one me and a buddy made one to fit my strikemaster, its nice but my batteys must not be to good i could not go that many holes on one battery. so i bought a niles hand auger, super fast

I have the drill attachment but use it on an 8 inch hole. I can get about 10-15 holes as long as I bring the drill in the shanty to keep it warmer. I was looking at the propane drill also as I run a heater off the little bottles. Won;t go fishing in -20 anyways - will go sledding though. Has anyone tried the attachment to fill the little bottles from an LP tank for your gill?

I have seen them a couple times now. They are REALLY heavy, but I still like the idea of them. If I had a permanent house, I would consider getting one.

maddog, I have the adaptor to fill the little bottles off the gas grill tank. It works great. What works best is when the little bottles are empty put them into the freezer for a few hrs. then fill. You have to turn your gas grill tank upside down then open the valve.
