I bought the UCLEAR DIGITAL Motion Infinity Dual Helmet Communication System last year and love it I had the old-school Collett Communicators before that. Not sure if the range is as truly as far Collett Communicators but they have more than enough range. but the one huge differance its the communication is truly clear, unlike the Collett Communicators. Don't get me wrong the Collett Communicators were great for what they are but the new tech is just that, new and improved.
To give you and example my group gave up on the Collett Communicators. They got tired of the inconsistence of the radio chatter. I had two units and bought one of my buddies off him to use with my kids. They worked great but even with the kids in a snowcoach just a few feet off my bumper communication was not perfect. Lots of repeating... That was consistent between normal riding distances as well. If you were on the max end of the range then good luck. You could get bits and pieces... The UCLEAR system either works or does not. When working it is very clear. clear enough I was able to answer phone call and the person on the other end not even know I was riding. With that said if you have cell service then you have that as backup as well for a far distance. Modes and function can be changed with gestures, voice, or buttons. Voice commands and buttons seem to be the most reliable. The microphones are very small with the UClear system which hid well in the helmet. they are also very sensitive. So you have to play with them per helmet to get them right. One of our helmets I even put behind the padding to help quite it down.
Friends of mine bought an older Cardo Scala Rider G4 they seamed to work well and were clear as well. I was able to pair any one of my units with any one of their units but we could not pair all of our units together. The instruction indicated we could have multiple units. Honestly we gave up said we would look into it later and never did. Their units did use the large boom mic. Similar to my Collett, I have to say I like the UClear small mics much better!
