I am in no way affiliated with this, but after reading this and a few other articles I am more than frustrated. I strongly believe the youth in this area need a channel for activity, and this is a very cost effective project that can benefit a lot of people. This project also gets productive, voluntary involvement, from the kids at the Horizon's school in Mohawk.
There has been a lot of generosity thus far, and they only need about $3400.00 additional to get this project rolling. Every bit helps.......

I agree Stack, I think this would be a good thing but this is the first I've heard of it. I'm always behind with the news! I think with the positive feedback the area got with the guys at Rythem bringing in pro snowboarders last winter having a snowboard park would be one more attraction for those people to come here.

Sounds like an old Mayor of and adjacent city down here. Guess what he's not mayor anymore! Good luck to razing the funds!

I say make them pay there own way. Why dont the county pay for my trail permit. I think it should be at bohemia anyway. last year the skiers enjoyed free skiing at the lodge trails and the county paid for the grooming. Why do we buy permits to pay for our grooming when we could go to the county board and whine for money.
Just my opinion.

It seems like a no brainer that they should have to pay a daily or seasonal fee to use the trails and a park if they ever get one. And wasn't this not only about getting something for the kids but also bringing business to the KML? I dont have the whole story only what was in the paper.

Chad if it is about more business for the lodge than please tell me why there isnt an access trail for snowmobilers to access the lodge. Seems to me it is focused just on skiers and snowboarders which I believe is a big mistake. It should be open to snowmobiles, we all know what kind of bucks the sled heads spend. Also many families ride here and would love it at the lodge. My two cents.

I don't know how many people from way out of the area would drive 6+hr because of a snow park.around my area there are already a few snowboard parks.kids are not looking for pow in there terrain parks they want it paced and groomed.for my self if I am going to go ski I don't drive 6hr to houghton.I pay some usual cheep air can be found for under 200 during season to Denver or salt lake take the shuttle to the hills.it is not like sledding where you have to drive to get your gear to the spot.
