Temps over the weekend were in the upper 30s to 40. We had a pretty heavy dose of rain this morning with high winds, gusts to 35-40. Currently sunny & 43 with winds continuing. All schools were cancelled here in the UP due to rain & freezing rain. Looks to be on the mild side through the week with a slight chance of snow tonight, but temps climb back into the upper 30s for the remainder of the week.

Left from Sidnaw to Calumet yesterday plenty of snow and was good until just north of the bug bar then they were a modules out mess all the way to Calumet. Were supposed to stay until Tuesday but with no grooming and 43 degrees we canceled and headed back to Sidnaw where we parked and dropped off to ride. And Calumet down to Twin Lakes was still brutal but plenty of snow and Twin back to Sidnaw was pretty good to fantastic still but won’t last long with these temps and no grooming. It’s to bad because there is more than enough snow but.

Any hope for next week heading north from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor?

We have a lot of snow yet, colder weather is setting in as I type this. Temps through the weekend are expected to stay in the teens with windchill in the minus teens. As of now, the only warm day in the forecast will be on Monday, the remainder of the week looks to be in the 20's. Groomers should be back to work tonight, you should be good to go. Be advised, trail 124 from trail 3 in Phoenix down to Gay is now closed as the private property owner is having logging done.

Recent forecast is now calling for 40 degrees on Monday (3-3-25) upper 30's on Tuesday, precip type is questionable. Changes happen fast, so I guess we'll see what she has planned. Looks like the roller coaster ride has resumed.

My buddy just called

We're leaving in the morning to head up to Hancock/Twin Lakes area for 3-4 days of riding

Anyone have current updates on grooming / trail conditions / amount of snow they received in last few days ??

We were just up there last week when when the warm weather messed things up by mid-week

Awoke to 4"+ of wet heavy snow this morning with temp starting out at 31 degrees. By mid morning, temp dropped to the lower 20's with snow & wind continuing currently with periods of white out conditions. Blizzard & winter storm warnings in effect to 1am Thursday. By the time all is said & done the total snowfall will likely exceed 10" with greater amounts in the higher terrain of South Range, Twin Lakes & the spine of the Keweenaw. I don't know about grooming at this time, considering the current whiteout conditions, I can only guess that they will wait until visibility improves. There will be no lack of snow for the foreseeable future.

Still rideable up there for sure. The trail base is rock solid. Looks like most areas will make it through the month . Finally got the sled back again and had to take it for a test run. Finally a ride without having to take it back to the dealer hopefully finally it's good to go. PXL_20250322_210227562.jpg PXL_20250322_203326408.jpg

Good job on the Bill Nichols goofy 😜 yes I went riding today to try out the sled again. I grabbed it from the dealer and decided to head up there and see if it was decent enough to ride. I am always surprised how well things hold up up there. There is still a solid base on the trails. Obviously kind of limited where you can ride but still about 3' off trail. I really only went up there hoping I could put a few miles on the sled and give me some hope that the sled is going to be good to go for next season. Also so I did sit around all summer wondering is my sled actually going to work next winter. If they get some more snow during the week I may head up next weekend again just to put a few more miles on just to ease my mind that maybe finally my sled has all the bugs worked out.

We received a heavy 8 to 10" in the banana belt area of the Keweenaw. Miserable to shovel, difficult to plow. I'm done with this....

Well Mezz I am not sure mother nature is done with it looks snowy as of now for the weekend. A little shift in the storm could make a big difference as there is a lot of warm air mixing in with the next storm. We shall see.
