Friday Aug 10th, we received our second meaningful rainfall of 1.30". We are still under 4" of rainfall here for the season so far. I see "some" trees feeling the stress of the lack of rain as their leaves are beginning to turn color.

I noticed the same thing in Presque Isle this week. Lake level is down about 4" and when we took a shoreline cruise around the lake my wife pointed out that the maples are starting to turn at the tops. Seems about 2 or 3 weeks earlier than normal. Hope to get the rain predicted for tomorrow. Lake level at this time of year worries me. If it drops a few more inches, it becomes a problem to get the pontoon boat off of the lift.

I'm seeing area where birch trees are starting to drop lots of leaves, likely due to drought stress.
