Kneeboaring and Barefoot Waterskiing behind a Sled

We have pulled Waterskiers, some barefoot, many times at International Watercross Association World Series of Watercross Races. We did this last year at our final race of the season in Wausau, WI.

If we have a good enough Waterskier, I'm sure we would do this again this year. The races in Wausau are Aug 28th and 29th.

I would rather be the driver ! Hats off to the skiier.... " What a cheese ball " love that part. I can't imagine what the DNR would say to me on our local Jet ski hole ? It's taken me 3 years of them giving me the "stink eye " for them to leave me alone. 1 of these days I'm going to strip down one of my sleds as they get older and give this a try. As long as I don't sink it... I should be OK. I can only get in so much trouble ( I'm thinking here ). The sled is registered !!!! Does anyone know what the ramifications are if you sink 1 ? I know you can't leave it there. What are the list of broken laws I would be facing ? Any thoughts ?

mj...every state is different, but you have so much time to get the sled out of the water. It is no different then if you went through the ice, as long as you get the sled out within a certain period of time.

Put a rope on the sled, tie it to the handlebar mount, put a 'float (boat cushion) on the end of the rope. Take off your seat, and if you are going down, simply pull the tether. Nothing will happen to the sled.

We do this dozens of times at our IWA World Series of Watercross Races.

BTW...yes, the skier has to be good, as does the person driving the sled.

i had a good waterskipping moment this past weekend. I went to the berlin car show in berlin, wi. and they had a waterskipping event with busse motorsports i believe it was and this one guy kept getting closer and closer to shore trying to spray everyone, and everyone moved back except for me, so towards the end, he just DRENCHED me head to toe with water, and he payed for it. He did a real sharp turn and sunk er! My mom says im not nice because i caused him to sink it :D

Sinking is no fun, unless its summer. I sunk a sled in the lake off Gay Sands in january, the most embarassing part was I was leaning forward for a big wave and my leg hit the kill switch. Went to the Gay Bar to thaw out and wait for a trailer for pick up. Thank god for Crown Royal. But my Klim boots stayed dry. The rest of me was an icicle. Made it 5 ft from shore, still plenty deep. Waded in, hooked a rope to a ski and dragged it out. Dah!! Sunk one in late april, plenty warm out. We were skipping on the river in Hubble, turned out it was barley 2 ft deep,[luck or oops] the Klimes were still dry, good money spent. We now live in FL. and I almost brought down a sled just to freak out the locals, the wife x-nayed that idea. Still wish I had, miss that smell, and sound of my tuned up poo 800. Plan on a sled trip this winter, Funny I used to go south in the winter? Whats up with that? Diving and snorkeling a wreck on sun or monday so lifes not so bad, another trip to the Keys in 2 weeks, we are camping, LOL in a 36 ft motorhome. Still miss sledding as I lived and breathed for every weekend of winter.[never missed 1] Haydays was not a option, it was a ritual for over 25 years.

I still have them, pd more in storage fees than I pd for them. LOL. But do plan a sled trip this winter, either out west or DA UP so they will be used again. There are 2 seasons in FL. Hot and Hotter. This will be my 3rd winter without snow, the snowmobile addiction is still as strong as it ever was. I now know what a herion addict feels like when out of drugs.
