Lack of Grooming?

The grooming from Phoenix north has been terrible for the most part for at least 2 seasons now. I get you can’t groom during the day because of the traffic but it certainly can be done overnight when it can set up. Rode out of Lac La Belle this weekendand no grooming done on Friday or Saturday night. Everything was groomed early Monday morning when we left. What’s the deal with that? After 20 years of riding in the Keweenaw this is terribly disappointing. Considering cancelling my reservations for my next trip and heading to the Eastern UP.

Agreed!
The trails have been getting bad for last few years, especially between Phoenix and Mohawk. In past years we have always seen a groomer working north of Calumet if not more, this year not one to be seen? For some time now, we been giving them the benefit of doubt, but its been going on for last few years now. Plus with the trail from Dollar Bay to Lake Linden and the trail between Gay and Lac Labelle closed this year, in addition to plenty of snow, you would think they would have more assets to keep up with the snow/traffic? The lack of grooming and/or conditions of the trails is disappointing to say the least.
As Much as my group loves the Beauty and Hospitality of the the Keweenaw, we are seriously already discussing next years ride and I must say at this point Moose Country (Ishpeming), Marquette, Munising, Seney and Grand Marais have been doing a much better job dealing with heavy traffic and abundance of snow as well.
These areas now being considered the top contenders for next year. Don't get me wrong I love the Keweenaw, I am not ready to throw in the towel just yet, the Keweenaw has given me great and wonderful rides, it's just sad that over the last few years the trails have consistently been getting worse.

I don't do much trail riding anymore, play in the woods all day, but, last year March I rented a sled from M@M in Hancock, and rode flat flat flat trails all day long on a Friday. Hancock to Copper Harbor, Lac la Belle, Gay, back to Hancock. It was awesome! I think people need start riding more in March.

$350 saved in my pocket here in WI the past 2 seasons with no MI stickers to scrape off and riding awesome trails with turns and stuff in excellent groomed condition.
I do kind of miss the abuse I'd get from Jane at Hoppy's though.
Might be back next year. Right now we have 2 more weekends planned in the great WI Northwoods.
