Lake gogebic ice conditions

Where would I find the most honest ice conditions for lake gogebic? Looking to come wet some lines when the ice is safe and a few spots to try out. Please this isnt like asking for trail conditions. Ive been told good ice from resorts(from past years) just to lose a wheeler thru the ice.

Can't say on LG but Vilas County lakes are NOT safe.Yes ice fishermen are starting to venture out but just has not been cold enough to have good ice on entire lake surfaces.

i would imagine u have to wait till the locals are out..that lake is nothing to mess with

i was thinking coming mid january. and im also not familiar with it. thats why im looking for the best advice on conditions like people that actually live on it

bring a sled..then u can do both..im sure the bait shops in the area and any resort will know

talked to my brother who lives in B.C. , he has been out fishing in bergland bay already, just walking out no sled or wheeler as of yet . there was 3-4 inches of ice and he said looked like a small army had been out there already. oh, fishing sucked.
