Didnt hear about the fall through sat night but heard a shanty went in maybe thurs night ? My group was up there last weekend and were staying on the north end near the hoop, we asked a few locals about riding LG and got a mixed review. After we were sure we had most of the bugs worked out of the sleds we ended up riding the lake to the hoop and into bergland. There were some slushy spots at the begining of the weekend but seemed to get better towards the end as it got packed down and started freezing, deff was a little sketch riding it at night.

That's a PDF of the lake depth that someone wanted to know. It's pretty shallow when you consider it's size. Compare it to Lake Angeline behind our place in Ishpeming.

162 feet deep..... I think if you sink a sled in there you're pretty screwed and possibly not recovering it!

I give lakes the utmost respect, I stay off them entirely!

I was up riding Monday and Tues (Dec 20 & 21) We did not ride the lake but ran into a group at the Lodge who rode from the Hoop via the lake. Said there was some surface water and some slush but they made it OK...

Seen a couple of sleds out on the NE side last night 10:00. They were stopped maybe checking tip-ups ? We ran a couple of rivers ( that looked like lakes ) yesterday in central WI ran over some duff with tons of slush underneath. Will check out "G" today.
