But will probably open back up.

Maybe..... but don't think so clampped tight for now. Gets cold here at night so offsets daylight sun hours more freezing hours & more dark time than sun time above freezing. It's winter don't you know! lol :)

N Lower MI has a bunch of deep, large lakes that are rarely froze at xmas and usually not froze over and safe until mid/late Jan. Every year gets later and later. Last 8 - 10 yrs only because a deep cold snap of single digit highs , below zero , we were able to venture out on 4 or more inches of solid blue ice late Jan.

So yes is the answer. More North Woods than just Wisc ponds

My apologies...

to all in lower Michigan. When I think "northwoods" I think north of HWY 8 in Wisconsin. Sorry for the confusion.

After looking at the NWC network unfortunately some have opened up again and the temps this week will blow them wide open.

Checked on Eagle River Chain of lakes today some open some iced over more ice than open. Lots of rain mix snow last 2 days & ice still holding. All nights at least in low 20s next 10 days. We should be ok but will know for sure by Monday.
