Land O Lakes Trails

Was up here between Christmas and New Years and the trails were decent. Still early season riding, but considering the traffic and the snow, the Frosty club did an excellent job keeping up. Theres alot to be said about grooming EVERY DAY and at night so the trails get a chance to set up frozen...GREAT JOB GUYS!!!!
We did a little experiment: rode the same trails for 4 days on Lando's trails and on Watersmeet's trails Lando groomed every day and at night , Watersmeet (right to the north) groomed once, both with the same amount of snow, the Frosty trails were in much better shape.

Different type of Trails in Lando and used to grooming less snow. Almost all Twistys some larger wider but not grades which Is Watersmeet in a nut shell. Grade grooming can get gravel mixed in the snow which is horrible for your sled. Watersmeet also won’t dispatch groomers if snow depth is limited. So moral of story both clubs do a great job but entirely different type of trails to groom.

Frosty meeting tomorrow so I will pass that on. Thanx for sharing your comments. I can tell you we road 6w early Sat all the way to intersection with the Boulder trail and we were the first tracks and on the way back we started coming across the big groups and noticed how the trail degraded after each big group so it does not take long with traffic although it was warming up a bit, burr definitely still enjoyable.

Winter Warlock was exactly correct on fact Watersmeet only groomed once and Whitedust is also correct on when groomers will go out but more importantly on as to grooming grade, coming off the melt down some spots on the grade really took a hit and lost most if not all snow. Once snow came Watersmeet is out daily and running evening into night. They did over the weekend have a groomer go down so they are getting the backup tractor out until they can get tractor fixed. I will be going out on Tuesday so hopefully will get some pictures to post. Also FYI of it goes sub zero it changes when we go out as to protect equipment and operators from extreme weather.

As a Frosty member and have a cabin in Watersmeet Township HATS OFF to both clubs for all they do. Frosty has come a long ways over the years and Thunder Riders always do the best they can with the amount of traffic and sometimes difficult grade stretches they have to work. Early season traffic gets that iron/gravel mixed into the base and is there for the season. We all know any sunny day will burn down brown snow if it's warm enough.
