About 30 long time employees permanantly laid off last week. Another crappy winter. Country Cat already fire saling sleds.

sorry but TRF?
I'm sure the entire industry... manufacturers, dealers, hotels, resorts are going to feel this one, last year wasn't one to write home about either.

Thief River Falls. Where they put together Arctic Cat sleds and the few remaining Yami models. There were no Yamis made in Japan for model year 2019. Except maybe their utility sled. I believe model year 2019 was the last year of the agreement between AC and Yami for engine supplier. Textron has had time to evaluate the sled biz. Personally not optimistic about Cat or Yami business as usual. Cat dealer network a shadow of what it used to be around here. There are Yami dealers that don't handle sleds. We will know soon enough. New models introduced in a short 2 months.

that's not good. Feel like I need to buy a sled and maybe I will. Feel bad for the people who lost their jobs, hopefully they can get into another one quick.

This has been a tough winter for a lot of people I feel like.

If you google search Textron lay off's you will see it is a regular practice of theirs as a whole, but i'm sure that if someone thinks that they are the only ones in the snowmobile industry that are feeling the pinch of the lack of white gold they are seriously mistaken, not to mention the less than favorable winters being the only reason why the industry is in somewhat of a tailspin. "then there was 2" I highly doubt those brands will ever go away. If winters keep going in the direction they have been along with the rising costs of just participating in the sport all together I'd be willing to bet there is some serious rethinking or resizing of the snowmobile industry as a whole. Not that it pertains to what is going on in the industry but the local snowmobile safety class that is usually booked beyond capacity only had a little over a dozen participants this year, sad to see. its sad that winter is setting up to be as bad as it started, as it isn't helping a already struggling sport.

Agree. Sad, but so it is.

Millennials don’t drive Harley’s and they sure as **** don’t like to snowmobile. Trails will be lonely in a generation. Fat tire bike?

Seasonal layoffs usually don't include 30 year employees. Usually just new hires. They also let a bunch of the 'old boys' go away last year. These were the hard core sled guys that were part of the group that bought AC after it went broke. All gone now. If there is a new direction it will be totally new. Could Textron build the next big thing? Sure. Textron could probably do anything it wanted. So could Yamaha. Neither has made the jump. Not holding my breath.

I think ACat snowmo is in an accelerated death spiral > than Yama.....note the poll somebody did here where ACat was actually below Yam in number of riders. That's shocking.

Another day another "BREAKING NEWS" story about Trump.... I remember when the news was the news....

Say as in Walter Cronkite, or perhaps Chet Huntley, and David Brinkley? You aren't that old slimcake! You just may get to ride at home, eh?
